Ensure adequate textbooks before the new school year

Vietnam Education Publishing House has just donated textbooks to disadvantaged students in Ha Tinh.

Joining hands to support and help students in difficult circumstances in the area, the Department of Education and Training of Ha Tinh has previously launched a movement to build "Shared Bookcases" and "Shared School Supplies Cabinets" in primary schools. The goal of the program is not only to share the economic burden for families but also to educate students about preserving textbooks to save, prevent waste, and improve the efficiency of book use. Responding to the direction of the industry, the movement has been widely deployed in schools.

Right from the end of the 2022-2023 school year, schools in Thach Ha launched a campaign for students to support books.

Mr. Le Van Phuong - Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Thach Ha said: “Since the end of the 2022-2023 school year, schools in the district have mobilized students, parents and teachers to support the shared bookshelf movement. This policy has also been widely announced through class groups, village loudspeakers... to inform parents and students who need to borrow books. Up to now, primary and secondary schools in Thach Ha have donated 4,229 sets of textbooks, of which 2,352 sets are for primary schools and 1,877 sets are for secondary schools.”

Through many forms such as donating old books, calling for social resources, before the new school year, libraries and shared bookcases in schools have been supplemented. Students in difficult circumstances no longer have to worry about textbooks before the new school year.

Ensure adequate textbooks before the new school year

New books have arrived at schools, meeting the needs of 90% of Ha Tinh students.

Mr. Nguyen Duy Nghia - Deputy Head of General Education Department, Ha Tinh Department of Education and Training informed: "To prepare for the new school year, up to now, the primary level has donated more than 15,000 sets of textbooks and nearly 10,000 sets of school supplies. In addition, the mobilization of old books for disadvantaged students has also been supported by many agencies, units, organizations and individuals. It is estimated that this source of books is enough to meet the needs of about 6% of students in the area".

Besides mobilizing book donations for students in difficult circumstances, proactively providing books for schools and students is also of special concern to relevant units.

Ms. Tran Thi Kim Hue - Head of Sales Department of Ha Tinh Books and School Equipment Joint Stock Company shared: "Thanks to proactively reviewing and understanding the number of students, developing plans, preparing warehouses and capital, textbooks for the new school year have arrived in the Ha Tinh market early. Up to now, we have imported more than 2.5 million textbooks, meeting the needs of 90% of students in the whole province."

Ensure adequate textbooks before the new school year

From August 25 to 30, textbooks will arrive in Ha Tinh market, ensuring supply for 100% of students in the area.

According to information from the Company of Books and School Equipment, currently, textbooks for grades 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10 have basically met the needs of students, there is no shortage of textbooks. However, for grades 4, 8 and 11, this is the first year of implementing the 2018 general education program, so printing and distribution is slower than for other grades. This is also a common situation for provinces and cities across the country.

With the publisher's commitment, from August 25 to 30, all textbooks will be available in Ha Tinh market, ensuring sufficient supply for 100% of students in the area before the new school year.
