Domestic coffee price list updated at 4:30 a.m. on February 28, 2025

The stronger US dollar has weighed on most commodities, including coffee. The US dollar index (DXY) rose to 106.5, while two-year and 10-year Treasury yields also rose. This has led traders to predict a possible correction, especially after the sharp rally in the first weeks of 2025, when the market hit a record high of nearly $4.30 a pound earlier this month.

Brokerage Sucden Financial said that current technical indicators suggest that prices will likely continue to fall in the near term. However, lower production from Brazil is expected to continue to support the market. According to new estimates from brokerage Pine Agronegócios, Brazil's coffee production in the 2025-26 crop year will reach 59.75 million bags. Last year's drought and heavy pruning led to a 16% drop in arabica production to 36.46 million bags. Meanwhile, the outlook for robusta is more positive, with production expected to increase by 8% to 23.29 million bags.

The forecast lower output will have a significant impact on exports, which are expected to fall 22% to 39.24 million bags, compared to 50.5 million bags in 2024. Stocks are also expected to fall to 1.6 million bags. This is significantly higher than the official Conab production estimate of 51.8 million bags, but lower than the average of a recent Reuters survey of 64.6 million bags.

Brokerage firm StoneX is even more optimistic, predicting a production of 65.6 million bags, thanks to improved weather conditions. Elsewhere, Cooxupé, Brazil’s largest coffee cooperative based in Guaxupé (Minas Gerais), expects to receive a total of 5.6 million bags from its members in the 2025-26 crop year, down 9.7% from last year. Exports are also expected to fall 2% to 4.9 million bags.

As a result, the coffee market is experiencing many fluctuations, from pressure from the US dollar to forecasts of production from Brazil. The combination of these factors will continue to affect coffee prices and exports in the coming time. Coffee growers and investors need to closely monitor the situation to make timely adjustments.
