The People's Committee of Dak Lak province has just issued a document to rectify the neglect of animal diseases and review vaccination after discovering that many localities were slow to update information, affecting disease prevention work.
Since the beginning of 2025, the country has recorded 27 outbreaks of African swine fever in 13 provinces, 6 outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease, 6 outbreaks of avian influenza A/H5N1 and 23 outbreaks of rabies in animals, causing 8 deaths. In Dak Lak alone, canine rabies still occurs in Cu Kuin, Cu M'gar, Krong Nang and Lak, causing 2 deaths in M'Drak and Krong Ana.
Despite the complicated developments of the epidemic , many localities have reported late or incompletely to the Animal Disease Information Management System (VAHIS). The Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to urgently tighten monitoring, reporting and vaccination work.
In particular, the Department of Agriculture and Environment must ensure timely reporting, implement vaccine procurement, vaccinate at least 80% of livestock and increase inspections of high-risk localities. People's Committees of districts, towns and cities must review the total herd, arrange funding for vaccination and closely monitor epidemic prevention work.
The Provincial People's Committee emphasized that delays in reporting and vaccination can cause great damage to the livestock industry and public health. Relevant units must strictly implement the directive to effectively control the epidemic in the area.
