On June 5, former US Vice President Mike Pence announced his participation in the 2024 Republican White House race, becoming a rival to the former leader, former President Donald Trump.

Mr. Pence's campaign has filed its candidacy paperwork with the Federal Election Commission.
Sources familiar with the matter said that on June 7, former Vice President Pence will launch his campaign with a video and a speech in Iowa, where early elections will take place.
Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is scheduled to enter the race on June 6, while North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum is also planning to announce his candidacy on June 7, bringing the total number of Republican candidates in the 2024 US presidential election to more than 10.
