Former US Vice President Pence could announce his entry into the 2024 White House race as a Republican candidate next week.
Former US Vice President Mike Pence will launch his 2024 campaign with a video announcement and speech in Iowa on June 7, sources familiar with the matter said on May 31, adding that Pence chose the timing of the announcement on his 64th birthday.
"We see the race as wide open and Iowa as a key state, where Pence's traditional conservative principles are valued," said an unnamed source familiar with the former vice president's plans.

Mr Pence plans to campaign in all 99 counties in Iowa, while his campaign will do everything to put the former US vice president in a favorable position.
Mike Pence served for decades in the US House of Representatives and four years as governor of Indiana before serving as vice president under former President Donald Trump. Mike Pence has long been considered one of the most influential voices in the Republican Party.
As he enters the race for the White House, Mr. Pence will face many challenges in the Republican primary with a series of formidable opponents. His broken relationship with former President Trump after the Capitol Hill riot in January 2021 may also turn many people away from him.
