Round the world yacht race begins in Ha Long Bay

Accordingly, at around 12:30 noon on the same day, Ha Long Bay was chosen as the 5th race of the journey. In the 8 stages, there will be 16 individual races and 6 times crossing the ocean.

There are 11 racing boats participating in the 2023-2024 season, of which the racing boat from Quang Ninh named “Ha Long Bay, Viet Nam” with the slogan “Endless Discoveries” is the only representative of Vietnam. The racing boat Ha Long Bay, Viet Nam has just won the 4th race: Marlow Roaring Forties Challenge.

After finishing the 4th race, the Clipper Race crew with about 400 sailors who are lovers of the sport of sailing, including many scientists, businessmen, investors, doctors, journalists, social media celebrities, etc. In addition, there were hundreds of relatives of the sailors participating in the race and foreign press reporters to the race destinations.

In the previous season of Clipper Race, although participating for the first time, the Ha Long Bay - Viet Nam sailing boat of Quang Ninh excelled over many other racing teams, winning the 3rd place overall; actively contributing to bringing the heritage - wonder of Ha Long Bay, tourism of Quang Ninh, Vietnam to the world, promoting international media about the beautiful and attractive destination of Ha Long, Vietnam, welcoming tourists from all over the world.

The Clipper Race began in October 1996 in Plymouth, UK. To date, there have been more than 50 cities around the world that have become Clipper Race stops. According to the Clipper Race Organizing Committee, on average, each race, each racing boat and port of call receives 6,000 press releases, 500 instant messages, more than 100 print publications, more than 2,000 social media posts and information is transmitted to 165 countries around the world.

The first sailboat appeared in Ha Long Bay.

The race is not only an international sporting event but also a great opportunity to promote the tourism image of the destination to tourists around the world, especially tourists from the European, North American and Australian markets. In addition to promoting the image of the destination, this is an opportunity to attract investors to Quang Ninh.

Before arriving in Ha Long, the racing boats depart from Coral Sea Marina Resort, Airlie Beach, Whitsunday Region, Queensland, Australia. From February 21 to February 26, 2024, the racing boats will arrive in Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh. From February 28 to February 29, 2024, the crew will participate in some activities in Quang Ninh. On March 2, the boats will leave Ha Long and continue their journey to Jiuzhou Port, Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, China.

With the goal of promoting the destination image and attracting investors to Quang Ninh, on the occasion of the racing boats arriving in Ha Long, Quang Ninh province organizes a number of activities such as: Reception ceremony, welcoming racing teams to Quang Ninh, duration 05 days (expected from February 21-26, 2024, the implementation time will be adjusted according to the actual arrival schedule of the racing boats); Program to introduce local products (OCOP) and promote Quang Ninh tourism from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (expected from February 26 to March 2, 2024, location in Ha Long International Passenger Port area; organize a tour and survey of destinations for Clipper Race crew; conference to promote, advertise and attract investment in Quang Ninh tourism, associated with the Award Ceremony of the race expected from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on February 28, 2024 at the 5-star hotel in Ha Long City to promote and introduce tourism, exchange investment attraction opportunities in Quang Ninh; discuss and connect investment between Vietnamese enterprises and foreign partners, meet and exchange between sailors with enterprises and investors inside and outside the province; visit the boat (static event); expected time from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on February 28, 2024 February 29, 2024 at Ha Long International Passenger Port; organize art performances from 20:00 - 21:30 on February 29, 2024 at Sun World Ha Long Park, Bai Chay Ward; organize sightseeing and tourism programs for crew members; the race restart ceremony with the racing boat parade is scheduled from 11:00 on March 2, 2024 at Ha Long International Port.
