Food Safety Department announces test results of Kera vegetable candy

According to the test results of Kera vegetable candy samples, safety indicators for microorganisms, fungi, heavy metals... were not detected or were within safe limits, but the product contained sweeteners that were not listed on the product label according to regulations.

This afternoon, March 20, the Department of Food Safety (Ministry of Health) announced the results of testing samples of the food supplement Supergreens Gummies (Kera vegetable candy).

Testing showed that the product sample contained the sweetener Sorbitol, but it was not listed on the product label.

The Food Safety Department said that according to the test results conducted by the National Institute for Food Safety and Hygiene, the indicators of protein, sugar, fat, and total energy content were basically consistent with the product's self-declaration; the safety indicators of microorganisms, fungi, heavy metals, etc. were not detected or were within safe limits.

Sweetener not listed on Kera vegetable candy product label

However, through testing, the National Institute for Food Safety and Hygiene discovered that the product sample contained sorbitol, a sweetener, with a content of 33.4 g/100 g, but it was not listed on the product label as prescribed.

The Food Safety Department has sent an official dispatch to the Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Department and Dak Lak Health Department requesting that violations be handled in accordance with the law.

Previously, from information about excessive advertising of the Supergreens Gummies (Kera vegetable candy) supplement product on social platforms, on March 6, the Food Safety Department sent an official dispatch requesting the Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Department to urgently inspect the operations of Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company, which sells this product in Ho Chi Minh City.

This unit also requested the Dak Lak Department of Health to urgently direct the inspection of compliance with conditions during the production process of Kera vegetable candy products, and the production of Kera vegetable candy products at ASIA LIFE Joint Stock Company.

Delegations from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety and the Dak Lak Department of Health inspected the above facilities and took product samples to send to the National Institute for Food Safety and Hygiene for testing.
