Free police semester registration scam
The Department of Information Security said that recently, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention - Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police discovered that on the social networking site Facebook, many pages posted information introducing the organization of summer camps for students in the area.
The scale of this scam organization is showing signs of spreading to all provinces and cities across the country.
Fraudsters create accounts on social networks such as: Skills Summer Camp - Police Semester, Military Semester Summer Camp, Aviation Career Summer Camp... with interfaces, addresses, and phone numbers similar to information from police agencies, military agencies, airlines...

At the same time, use images of police, military, and airline staff to impersonate authorities and post content such as:
“Parents contact for their children to participate in the 2024 summer camp to gain experience, career orientation and receive attractive promotions…”. Then send the application criteria, candidate code and lead the victim to exchange via the “specialist’s” social network Zalo.
The scammers advise students that the course will be free, with meals and accommodation provided. In return, students must practice booking airline tickets online and get a refund, or deposit between 5 million and 10 million VND to register.
Initially, domestic airfare was a few million dong, then international airfare was a few tens of millions dong.
Because they believed the content of the Facebook pages was true, many people transferred money to register their children to participate. However, after transferring the money, the subject took possession of it and blocked communication.
Impersonating a Health Department Inspector to defraud bone and joint medicine
Recently, Hanoi City Police said that the City Police Department is investigating a case of fraud and property appropriation in the form of calling people with bone and joint diseases to consult and sell treatment drugs.
Here, the subjects impersonated as Health Department Inspectors to inquire about the patient's health status and the medications used, then invited them to buy Calcium and Phuc Cot Don from Long Huong Pagoda or the Health Support Center at prices ranging from 1 million VND to 3 million VND/1 prescription (from 1 to 3 boxes of the above medicine), along with a Warranty Card with warranty code 110299.

On the warranty card, in addition to providing the warranty code, the subject also provided content such as: "WARRANTY CARD For the health of Vietnamese people", promising to refund 50,000,000 VND if the customer discovers that the product contains HARMFUL SUBSTANCES.
In addition, on the back (white) will be filled in the information of the card holder along with a commitment to improve 90% of the disease, otherwise the pharmacy will support for free until the disease is completely cured; refund up to 80% of the treatment cost if the disease does not improve.
The subject delivers medicine to the patient via Vietnam EMS service or Viettel Post, and collects money through the delivery staff.
Then, the subject tricks the patient into participating in the program to create a book to support free medical examination at Central Hospitals or to receive one-time support with an amount ranging from several tens of millions to several hundreds of millions of VND. However, on the condition that the book creation fee or value added tax must be paid into the account of the subject of fraud.
A series of celebrity social media channels were hacked.
The Information Security Department also determined that recently, a series of social media channels of artists, celebrities, and content creators were attacked by hackers.
Specifically, the YouTube channel MixiGaming (Phung Thanh Do) was hacked and taken over. The hacker then hid all video content and used the channel to livestream cryptocurrency advertising content.
In addition, the YouTube channel Quang Linh Vlogs also suddenly changed its name to a cryptocurrency, making the online community feel skeptical.

On Pham Quang Linh's Facebook page with a blue tick, a post appeared announcing that three YouTube accounts belonging to Quang Linh Vlogs' channel system had been hacked.
Currently, Phung Thanh Do's YouTube channel MixiGaming has been restored after being hacked twice.
Hackers taking control of a celebrity's social media account can have serious consequences.
Typically, accessing personal information for fraudulent purposes or directly affecting their honor, reputation and privacy.
The subject may also use the account to send phishing messages or malicious links to the celebrity's friends list.
