Along with the positive upward trend of the whole market, PNJ shares (HOSE) of "chairwoman" Cao Thi Ngoc Dung of Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company - PNJ suddenly increased by the ceiling price of nearly 7% in today's session (August 19), reaching a market price of VND 104,900/share, ranking in the top 2 in the group of stocks with the most positive impact on the index. This is also the highest price in the history of PNJ to date.

This development occurred after 5 consecutive months of PNJ stock moving sideways. The matched volume reached 4.2 million units, nearly equal to the highest session in history of 4.3 million units, with a corresponding value of 437 billion VND.

Thanks to that, the personal assets owned at the stock exchange with PNJ shares of Ms. Cao Thi Ngoc Dung and her three children have also increased significantly.

Specifically, as the shareholder with the highest percentage of shares at PNJ, Ms. Tran Phuong Ngoc Ha, the biological daughter of Ms. Ngoc Dung, with the number of shares held is 12.26 million shares (3.66%), her assets on the floor are currently 1,286 billion VND.

Ms. Tran Phuong Ngoc Giao, the biological daughter of Ms. Ngoc Dung, also increased her assets on the floor with PNJ shares exceeding the threshold of more than 1,000 billion VND with 9.7 million shares (2.89% ratio).

Next is the female chairwoman of PNJ, Ms. Ngoc Dung, with more than 9.37 million shares owned. Her assets on the stock exchange with PNJ shares are currently approximately 983 billion VND.

How is PNJ's business situation in the first half of 2024?

Regarding business performance, in the financial report for the second quarter of 2024, PNJ announced positive results when sales revenue reached VND 9,605 billion, a sharp increase of 42.6% over the same period last year, thanks to which after-tax results increased by 27%.

In the first 6 months of the year, PNJ achieved VND 22,308 billion in revenue and VND 1,166.6 billion in profit after tax, up 34.2% and 7.4% respectively over the same period last year.

The company said that thanks to the implementation of many flexible marketing programs to effectively exploit strategic market segments and increase new customers; promoting the optimization of operations in production and business activities, revenue and profit results have increased positively in the second quarter.

As of the end of June, PNJ had a total of 405 stores nationwide, including: 396 PNJ stores, 5 Style by PNJ stores, 3 CAO Fine Jewellry stores and 1 wholesale center. In the first half of 2024, the company opened 13 new stores and closed 8 stores. The number of employees at PNJ also increased significantly, from 7,672 to 8,200 employees.

In terms of asset size, PNJ has significantly reduced its liabilities, from VND 4,621.4 billion to VND 2,248.7 billion after the first 6 months of the year. Thanks to that, in the total assets of VND 12,964 billion, the liabilities ratio only accounts for 17.3%, the rest is equity with 82.6%.

Inventory developments in recent years at PNJ

Assessing the developments of today's session, according to experts from Mirae Asset Securities, as of the end of the first 6 months of the year, the inventory at PNJ is 9,713 billion VND, a slight decrease of 11.2% after the first 6 months of the year. However, overall, PNJ mainly maintains a continuous upward trend over the years, especially with the context of the "hot" gold market returning when gold rings set a new peak, surpassing the mark of 78 million VND/tael.

This helps PNJ shares gain more momentum and increases market expectations that PNJ's profit margin will continue to increase in the coming time.
