Located on the 4th floor of Song Platform building on Ba Trieu street (Hue city), Songlad is a project that Mr. Duong Do - founder of Toong co-working space chain - has been nurturing for 5 years.
The first major digital art space
According to Duong Do, Songlad specializes in performing digital art (artworks that use high technology in creation or presentation). The project will be put into trial operation on October 20, 2023.
Songlad has special machines and spaces to serve the function of connecting creative people from many different fields. Here, they can freely experiment with applying technology to their works.

"Currently, Songlad organizes performances of works in the field of digital art. This choice is a suggestion for contemporary dancers, sculptors... to participate.
A sculpture overlaid with moving textures creates a new concept. A Canva artist can work with the lab to deconstruct their work, allowing visitors to step inside.
There have been exhibitions around the world that have dissected Van Gogh's works such as Future World in Singapore, Teamlab Borderless in Tokyo, L'Atelier des Lumières in Paris... So why don't we do the same for Vietnamese artists?" Duong Do shared.
Experience the immersive feeling at "Songlad"
Visitors to Songlab will be able to "play" in works inspired by Hue's cultural life. In the future, these works will be replaced to create something new for visitors.
With an area of 1,000m2 , Songlab has a total of 5 rooms with different layouts, of which room number 4 will have direct interactive effects. Technically, the project cooperates with the projection system supplier for the Van Gogh exhibition in Marina Bay (Singapore).

Talking to Tuoi Tre Online , Duong Do said the project is 85% complete. The missing parts are additional details such as adding glass walls to expand the space and arranging some items to unify the theme.
After the trial run, the entrance fee will be divided into two categories, one for Hue residents (over 100,000 VND) and one for visitors from other places (about 200,000 VND). Children will have a separate support policy.
"There has never been a bigger digital art space"
Talking about the difficulties in implementing Songlab , Mr. Duong Do thinks that professional issues are one of the things that make him worry.
"While waiting for the opportunity to carry out the project, I still observed the art world in Vietnam and felt a bit worried because Vietnam had never had such a space. That means you do not have enough experience to carry it out," said the general curator of Songlab .

In addition, the entire projector system in the project is specialized and therefore not available on the market. The implementation team had to order projectors with appropriate aperture, power, and resolution from abroad, so the cost was quite high.
In addition, Songlab needs a high security system to avoid being hacked. Therefore, Mr. Duong Do believes that the difficulty in implementing the project lies in the technology and technology personnel working for the space.
