On December 8, at Quang Ninh Museum (Ha Long City), Quang Ninh Tourism Association, Vietnam Intangible Cultural Heritage Promotion Center in collaboration with Quang Ninh Museum organized a program to introduce Xam singing art. This is also an activity to test cultural products for community tourism, responding to the exhibition "Colors of Quang Ninh intangible heritage culture in Vietnam's intangible culture", taking place from November 12 to December 22, at Quang Ninh Museum.
Attending the program, locals and tourists learned about the art of Xam singing through rustic and simple Xam songs and stories such as Tu Hai Giao Tinh, Ho 12 Thang, Cong Cha Ngai Me Sinh Thanh. At the same time, Quang Ninh audiences and tourists listened to artists from the Center for Promotion of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Vietnam introduce the culture of rewarding coins in Xam singing; experience Xam singing instruments and Xam singing with the artists.
Xam singing is a form of folk performance, using the art of singing and music. Xam songs are imbued with a deep philosophy of life, education and humanity. Listening to and learning Xam singing will help you feel the meaning of the lyrics and melodies, understand the lives, fates, as well as the valuable life experiences of your ancestors. Xam has been recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2021 and is being oriented to build a dossier to submit to UNESCO for inclusion in the list of World Cultural Heritage.
Through the performance and sharing program of long-time Xam singing practitioners, the program aims to preserve, conserve and develop the Xam singing heritage effectively in modern cultural life, especially making Xam singing and Xam performances become potential tourism products in Quang Ninh.
