(PLVN) - In the first quarter of 2025, the Vietnamese tourism industry has had a series of attractive policies to attract foreign visitors to visit and travel. This is a "lever" to help our tourism industry attract tourists in key international markets.
Leading Southeast Asia in tourism recovery after the pandemic
In fact, Vietnam's tourism industry is making strides in the Southeast Asian region. Recently, Indonesia's Tempo newspaper published an article expressing its impression of the growth rate of Vietnam's tourism industry in the ASEAN bloc. The recorded data shows that Vietnam's tourism industry is having the best recovery rate in Southeast Asia, higher than famous tourist destinations such as Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines... Specifically, with 17.6 million international arrivals, reaching 98% compared to 2019 before the Covid-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, other ASEAN countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines only achieved a recovery rate of about 75 - 88% compared to the time before the pandemic.
By early 2025, Vietnam had welcomed a record number of visitors since the first quarter of this year, with millions of domestic and foreign visitors flocking to attractive tourist destinations. Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, acknowledged that this result was achieved thanks to the efforts of the entire industry over the past time, such as issuing documents and resolutions to facilitate tourism development; innovating tourism promotion and advertising in terms of market, content, methods, and scale; effectively exploiting the public-private partnership mechanism; the active participation of localities, associations, and businesses; developing new products suitable to the country's potential strengths and the needs and tastes of tourists.
This is thanks to the fact that in recent years, Vietnam has developed diverse tourism strengths in all regions with many different types. In particular, Vietnam has many attractive visa policies and incentives for foreign tourists in key markets such as Korea, China, India, etc.
A series of attractive visa and service offers
Sharing with reporters of the Vietnam Law Newspaper, Ms. Vu Thi Bach Duong, an expert of Tran Viet Tourism Company Limited, Hanoi branch, said that the demand for travel of Vietnamese tourists abroad and foreign tourists to Vietnam is currently increasing. The newly issued open visa policy and breakthrough promotion programs promise to bring about increased demand for international tourists to Vietnam. At the same time, the Vietnamese tourism brand is also being raised in the world market.
Since 2024, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has implemented 7 key groups of tasks such as tourism promotion and advertising methods; focusing on exploiting market segments and specialized products in which Vietnam has strengths. In particular, visa policies are considered "tickets" to attract tourists from many developed countries to Vietnam. To stimulate international visitors to Vietnam, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just issued a Plan on implementing Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP dated January 15, 2025 of the Government and the 2025 Tourism Stimulus Program with the theme "Vietnam - Travel to Love".
Accordingly, Vietnam will exempt visas for citizens of the three countries of Poland, the Czech Republic and the Swiss Confederation. Citizens of the three countries are exempt from entry visas for a temporary stay of 45 days from the date of entry for tourism purposes. The program will be implemented from March 1 to December 31, 2025. When entering Vietnam, tourists who are citizens of the three countries of Poland, the Czech Republic and Switzerland must meet the following conditions: enter under the unilateral visa exemption according to the provisions of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam; passport with at least 6 months of validity. In particular, tourists must follow the program organized by a Vietnamese international travel service business enterprise, with a certificate of participation in the tourism program.
