At noon on December 12, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his wife arrived at Noi Bai airport, beginning a two-day state visit on December 12-13.
The plane carrying the General Secretary and President of China and his entourage landed at 12 noon, when the temperature in Hanoi was around 27 degrees Celsius and the weather was cool. This was Mr. Tap's third visit to Vietnam as General Secretary and President of China, after his visits in 2015 and 2017.
During the visit, the two sides are expected to sign dozens of important cooperation documents in areas such as Party channel cooperation, national defense and security, cooperation between relevant agencies and localities, justice, communications, connecting development strategies, trade and investment, digital economy, green development, import and export of agricultural products, irrigation and maritime cooperation.

Ahead of the visit, in an article published in the People's Daily, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping highlighted the friendly neighborly relationship and four enduring factors in the Vietnam-China relationship. These are: enduring mutual trust; enduring harmonization of interests; enduring friendship and closeness; and enduring sincere treatment.
In an interview on December 10, the Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam pointed out four new points in President Xi Jinping's visit, including "new situation, new direction, new prospects and new momentum". Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu also said that Vietnam and China both expect Xi's visit to bring "new positioning" and "new level" to bilateral relations.
Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai said the visit will create more momentum to deepen and elevate the Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

China has been Vietnam's largest trading partner for many consecutive years, while Vietnam is China's largest partner in ASEAN. According to the General Department of Customs, the total bilateral trade turnover in 2022 reached 175.6 billion USD, of which Vietnam's exports reached 57.7 billion USD and imports 117.87 billion USD.
As of October 20, China ranked 6th among 143 countries and territories investing FDI in Vietnam with 4,105 valid projects and a total registered capital of more than 26.5 billion USD.
