Trade and tourism between Vietnam and China in Guangxi are on the rise, making the area a vibrant and potential trading center.
“From giant ships constantly passing through the Gulf of Tonkin, to cross-border transport vehicles at the border gates, tourism and trade cooperation between Vietnam and China in the Guangxi region is growing stronger and stronger.”
This is the opinion of reporters from Xinhua News Agency, after a field trip to the border area of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Vietnam. It can be said that the flow of tourism and trade between Vietnam and China is turning Guangxi into a vibrant and open destination.

Tourism and trade cooperation is increasingly developing.
According to Xinhua News Agency, the highlight of Guangxi-Vietnam tourism cooperation comes from the Ban Gioc-Detian Waterfall Scenic Area. This project is China's first cross-border tourism cooperation area with a neighboring country.
From October 15, 2024, tourists can freely travel between the two countries within the 400-hectare boundary of the landscape, thereby realizing the dream of "visiting two countries in one day" of many tourists. After more than 4 months of operation, the number of cross-border tourists has increased, reaching 50,000 people on December 31, 2024.
Meanwhile, at the Friendship Gate in Pingxiang City, trade activities between China and Vietnam are taking place very bustlingly every day, with a series of trucks loaded with fruits from Vietnam and ASEAN countries being cleared quickly. With just a swipe of the card, fingerprint, and facial recognition, drivers only need about 15 seconds to complete customs clearance procedures.
Sharing with Xinhua reporters, truck driver Le Hai Nam said: Compared to manual procedures like before, the time for customs clearance through border gates has now been significantly reduced, helping him save time and effort.
"Previously, I had to manually stamp, the process was quite complicated, now I just need to scan my face and press my fingerprint to clear customs, much more convenient. I can run 2, 3 more trips a day, my income has increased significantly" , Mr. Nam affirmed.
Thanks to this new customs clearance system, the number of trucks entering and exiting at Huu Nghi border gate in 2024 reached a record 500,000, an increase of 15.96% over the same period.
Guangxi pledges to optimize administrative procedures
Sharing with Xinhua reporters, a representative of the Guangxi Immigration Border Inspection Station said: This agency will continue to improve the experience for Vietnamese tourists and businesses, by optimizing administrative procedures and promoting convenience. A typical example is the "fast online approval" procedure, which helps tourists from Vietnam only need to declare information in advance, so that when arriving in Guangxi, they can quickly enter the country.
At the same time, the Guangxi Immigration Border Inspection Station pledged to fully support Nanning Wuyu Airport to strengthen and expand flight routes to ASEAN countries, including Vietnam. The agency said that in 2024 alone, there were nearly 6,000 international cargo flights to the province, with the volume of cleared goods reaching 80,000 tons, up 20.4% and 32.58% respectively over the same period in 2023.
To support the construction of smart border gates at the border, and meet the rapidly increasing customs clearance needs from Vietnam, the Guangxi Immigration Border Inspection Station has proposed a "4 smart" border gate plan including smart inspection, smart management, smart guarantee and smart coordination, thereby building a smooth, convenient and highly efficient Vietnam - China border transportation system.

In the coming time, the Guangxi Immigration Border Inspection Station will issue common passes to all foreign ships at the Qinzhou, Beihai and Fangcheng Immigration Border Inspection Stations. In addition, Guangxi is committed to promoting the digitalization of administrative procedures, gradually eliminating on-site declaration, helping foreign enterprises to carry out import procedures more conveniently.
According to the General Department of Customs, the two-way import-export turnover between Vietnam and China in 2024 reached more than 205 billion USD. Notably, the import-export turnover through Huu Nghi Quan border gate (Guangxi) in 2024 reached 64.7 billion USD, an increase of 13.4% over the previous year. In 2024, Vietnam welcomed 3.7 million tourists from China, accounting for 21.26% of the total number of tourists to Vietnam. In 2024, Guangxi alone had more than 80,000 tourists from Vietnam. |
