On the morning of November 24, in the capital Phnom Penh of Cambodia, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended and delivered an important speech at the opening session of the 11th Plenary Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP 11) with the theme "In search of peace, reconciliation and tolerance".
Attending IPTP 11 were President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Techo Hun Sen; President of the Cambodian National Assembly, Chairman of IPTP 11 Samdech Khuon Sudary; Prime Minister of Cambodia Samdech Hun Manet; Chairman of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP) Ahmed Bin Mohamed Aljarwan; Chairman of IPTP Sous Yara and nearly 200 delegates who are leaders of parliaments, parliamentarians of countries and regional and international parliamentary organizations from 58 member parliaments and guest parliaments, partners...
Building a common community with the foundation of peace and prosperity
Taking place from November 23-26, the Session was divided into two thematic discussion sessions, including: Promoting peace architecture, peacebuilding, reconciliation and tolerance: the combined strength of Government, Parliament and society; and Strengthening multilateralism, cooperation and partnership for inclusive coexistence and connectivity.
At the opening session of IPTP 11, King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia sent a message of welcome to the delegates, emphasizing that Cambodia's hosting of IPTP 11 together with the parliaments of other countries demonstrates the importance of building a common community based on peace, prosperity, people-to-people connection and people-to-people exchange. King Norodom Sihamoni believes that the session will be successful with the support, companionship and cooperation of all subjects, countries and international organizations, aiming to achieve the goal of building peace and common prosperity for all mankind.
Speaking at the opening of IPTP 11, IPTP Chairman Sous Yara said that with the theme “In search of peace, reconciliation and tolerance”, this session is an opportunity for the Cambodian National Assembly and IPTP member parliaments to exchange, discuss and propose solutions to prevent conflicts through peaceful measures, dialogue and enhanced international cooperation.

Speaking at the opening session, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Manet stated that the process that Cambodia pursues requires support and cooperation from all parties, ensuring overcoming difficulties and challenges such as energy security and cooperation in issues such as information technology and innovation.
Vietnam supports initiatives that contribute to peace and stability in the region and the world.
Speaking at the session as a guest, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man highly appreciated the efforts of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian People's Party, President of the Cambodian Senate and the Cambodian National Assembly in organizing IPTP 11. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized: "Cambodia's success story in consolidating peace, reconciliation, and national development is a testament to the noble goal of building a peaceful, better, more civilized world where people live tolerantly with each other."
Sharing with the leaders of parliaments and parliamentarians of the countries attending IPTP 11, the National Assembly Chairman pointed out that peace is not only the absence of war, but also respect, love and sharing among peoples and nations. Peace is when we understand and sympathize with each person, regardless of skin color, religion or ethnic origin. Peace is to ensure that each person deserves to live a prosperous and happy life in a safe environment, without discrimination.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man stated that Vietnam is a peace-loving nation with a tradition of tolerance, humanity and peace. Having gone through many wars for national independence and reunification, Vietnam especially values the value of peace, stability and friendship so that every citizen can enjoy independence, freedom, prosperity and happiness.
The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that Vietnam supports initiatives contributing to peace and stability in the region and the world, and supports the promotion of resolving international conflicts and disputes by peaceful means, without threatening or using force, and in compliance with international law and the United Nations Charter.

To build peace, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that first of all, it is necessary to promote mutual understanding, narrow differences between countries and ethnic groups; join hands to promote sustainable and inclusive development, and address the root causes of poverty and inequality, which is also a way to create a sustainable foundation for a peaceful and tolerant world.
The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that respecting international law and promoting multilateralism, especially the central role of the United Nations, is the most civilized way to prevent war and conflict.
In that spirit, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man believes that the parliament and parliamentarians will play an active role and have an important voice in promoting the rule of law, building trust and mutual respect, and finding sustainable peaceful solutions to regional disputes as well as urgent global challenges today.
The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that Vietnam highly appreciates and fully supports Cambodia’s efforts to promote dialogue, reconciliation and cooperation. As a neighboring country of Cambodia, Vietnam believes that Cambodia’s successful experiences in national development and building friendly and cooperative relations with neighboring and regional countries will contribute to promoting peace and cooperation in the region and the world.
At IPTP 11, President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Techo Hun Sen spoke, sharing stories about the process of building and developing the country, the process of reconciliation, overcoming divisions to build peace and unify the country. During that process, Samdech Techo Hun Sen highly appreciated and expressed deep gratitude for the assistance of the Vietnamese Army in liberating and unifying the country, escaping the Pol Pot genocide; Vietnam respects the independence, autonomy and decisions of Cambodia.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also shared about Cambodia's achievements in recent years, efforts to integrate into the international community, participate as a responsible member of the international community, and efforts to address current global challenges; emphasized the win-win approach and the need for dialogue and cooperation between parties to build peace.
At the Session, delegates focused on discussing measures to promote peace, reconciliation and tolerance by investing in a unified structure of peace-building and development cooperation by peace-loving countries and stakeholders; emphasizing the important role of parliamentary and state diplomacy in promoting peace, development, compliance with international law, justice and trade.
