Receiving Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan on the afternoon of November 20 at the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong affirmed that Vietnam consistently attaches importance to the friendship, tradition and multifaceted cooperation with Armenia that has been nurtured and built by many generations of leaders and people of the two countries.

The President welcomed Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan and the high-ranking delegation of the National Assembly of Armenia to an official visit to Vietnam, believing that the visit will contribute to strengthening the relationship between the two countries' legislative bodies, for the development and interests of the two peoples. The President extended his regards and invited President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.
The President affirmed Vietnam consistently attaches importance to the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Armenia that has been nurtured and built by many generations of leaders and people of the two countries; the Party, State and people of Vietnam always remember and appreciate the wholehearted support and assistance that the Armenian people have given to Vietnam in the struggle for national independence and unification, as well as in the future cause of national construction and development.
Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan expressed his gratitude to the President for taking the time to meet him; affirmed that Armenia considers Vietnam an important partner in relations with countries in the region; hoped that the two sides would continue to discuss and develop bilateral cooperation in many fields, including educational cooperation, a field in which thousands of Vietnamese students have studied; and hoped that in the future, more Vietnamese students would continue to come to study and work in Armenia.

Affirming that Vietnam and Armenia have many opportunities to cooperate and support each other in international forums, Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan also hopes that the two countries will have many bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms on the basis of being members of international trade organizations.
Emphasizing that this was the first time coming to Vietnam but had many good impressions, Speaker of the Parliament Alen Simonyan expressed that through this visit, the two sides will promote political, diplomatic and economic cooperation; establish new cooperation mechanisms in the future.
Agreeing with the opinion of the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan, the President acknowledged and suggested that the relevant agencies of the two countries discuss and come up with specific cooperation solutions. Appreciating the content of the talks between the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan and the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, the President expressed his delight at the good political cooperation between the two countries and the positive development of economic, trade and investment cooperation.
Informing about the socio-economic development situation of Vietnam, the President said that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, after nearly 40 years of renovation, Vietnam has transformed from a country heavily devastated by war with a very low per capita income to now having an economy ranked 35th in the world; trade is in the top 20 in the world; and top in the world in exports. In addition to Vietnam's own efforts, these results were also achieved with the help of international friends, including Armenia.

The President also said that two-way trade in the first months of 2024 reached more than 400 million USD, which is positive, but compared to the potential, strengths of the two countries and the good relationship, that result is still modest. Therefore, the two countries need to increase exchanges and delegations at all levels, especially high-level; increase people-to-people exchanges, tourism, and local connections between the two sides. Based on the strengths of each country and the needs of the partner country, it is necessary to actively exchange and promote economic, trade, investment, education and training cooperation. Pointing out that education and training cooperation has a very good history of relations; thousands of Vietnamese officials have studied in Armenia, many of whom have become high-ranking officials, the President affirmed that this is an advantage, a link between the two cultures, and a good condition to promote relations between the two parliaments in particular and the two countries in general.
In the context of the complicated developments in the world situation, the President said that the two countries need to support, help and protect each other's legitimate interests at multilateral and international forums, especially at the United Nations; and suggested that the National Assemblies of the two countries closely coordinate to promote cooperation between the two countries, meet the common interests of the two nations, and contribute to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
