Full and timely support

For over 2 years, every month, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue, a prestigious person in Goc Bang village (An Phu commune, My Duc district) has received financial support according to Resolution No. 16/2021/NQ-HDND (Resolution 16) of the Hanoi People's Council. The monthly support level is equal to 50% of the basic salary/person/month.

In An Phu commune, in addition to Ms. Hue, there are 12 prestigious people in other villages who also enjoy the support policies and regimes according to Resolution No. 16. "Although the amount of money is not too large, it helps prestigious people like us feel warm because of the care..." - Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue confided.

Prestigious people are the
Prestigious people are the "extended arms" of the Party in the ethnic minority areas of Hanoi.

Along with My Duc district, the authorities of 4 other districts including Thach That, Quoc Oai, Ba Vi and Chuong My are also implementing the process of paying monthly allowances to prestigious people. The total number of prestigious people enjoying support policies under Resolution No. 16 is currently 119 cases.

“The local government is well aware of the role of prestigious people. Therefore, in recent years, it has always paid attention to and fully implemented support mechanisms and policies for this group of people, especially Resolution No. 16, ensuring timely and correct implementation of regulations…” - Chairman of the People's Committee of Minh Quang Commune (Ba Vi District) Nguyen Tien Tha shared.

In addition to support under Resolution No. 16, in recent years, Hanoi has also fully and promptly implemented many other policies for prestigious people among ethnic minorities. A typical example is the support policy under Decision No. 28/2023/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister.

Accordingly, prestigious people are provided with information through training and propaganda conferences; are provided with free newspapers and magazines; are visited and given gifts by the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions and local authorities at all levels on the occasion of Tet; are supported with hospital fees when they are sick, or when their families suffer from natural disasters or fires, etc.

Best care for prestigious people

Reality has confirmed that prestigious people are the core force, an important bridge between the Party committees and authorities with the ethnic minority people of the capital. The team of prestigious people has been actively contributing to the socio-economic development, political security stability, and social order in the ethnic minority areas.

Deputy Director in charge of the Hanoi Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions Nguyen Nguyen Quan assessed that Resolution No. 16 is a unique policy, demonstrating the city's great listening and concern for prestigious people. The amount of direct support, although not much, is an important motivation for prestigious people to continue to promote their roles and responsibilities, making positive and effective contributions to the overall development of ethnic minority areas.

“In the coming time, we will continue to fully and promptly implement policies and regimes for prestigious people; strengthen political and ideological training and education; and at the same time guide and assign appropriate tasks so that prestigious people can promote their role in the community…” - Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Quan added.

Along with continuing to fully and promptly implement Resolution No. 16, the representative of the Hanoi Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions also requested that the Party committees and authorities of the five districts: Ba Vi, Thach That, Quoc Oai, My Duc and Chuong My, must always be aware of the position and role of prestigious people; thereby effectively implementing the regimes and policies according to the regulations of the Central Government and Hanoi; ensuring the best care for prestigious people.

“Hanoi advocates fully and promptly implementing policies and regimes for prestigious people in general, including Resolution No. 16/2021/NQ-HDND. Currently, the Standing Committee of the City People's Council, the City People's Council Committees, the delegations and the City People's Council delegates are continuing to monitor the implementation of Resolution No. 16 at the grassroots level. Any individual or organization that does not properly or fully implement the policies as prescribed will be held responsible before Hanoi City…” - Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan .
