DNO - In Official Dispatch No. 9927/VPCP-CN dated December 20, 2023, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha assigned the Ministry of Transport to develop a plan to upgrade and renovate National Highway 14D from the medium-term public investment plan for the 2021-2025 period allocated to the Ministry of Transport.

With a total length of 76km, National Highway 14D (QL 14D) connects Nam Giang International Border Gate on the Vietnam - Laos border with National Highway 1 and Ho Chi Minh Road, and the central seaports play an important role in transporting goods.

However, after a long time of use, National Highway 14D has now seriously degraded, the movement of vehicles, people,... is currently facing many difficulties, risking traffic safety and hindering local economic development.

Currently, the volume of vehicles carrying goods through Nam Giang International Border Gate along National Highway 14D to Da Nang Port and Chan May Port (Thua Thien Hue) is increasing, but with the current situation, it is difficult to ensure smooth and safe traffic. Not to mention, the road surface structure cannot meet the current load and traffic volume, so many damages have begun to occur.

Highway 14D often experiences traffic congestion, causing time and cost waste for businesses. Along with that, it directly affects local people when the road is small but has a high density of vehicles... Therefore, upgrading Highway 14D to develop the economy, stabilize traffic in the area, and ensure safety for people is very necessary.
