Businesses "give advice" to achieve the GDP growth target of 8% in 2025

At the meeting with the Government Standing Committee, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga, Chairwoman of BRG Group, said that for over 30 years, BRG Group has operated in the fields of finance, retail, services, and tourism.

The Chairman of BRG Group proposed that the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers consider continuing to reduce land rent for businesses in 2024 and 2025, not only for 6 months but for the whole year. Any businesses that are eligible for the reduction need to be carefully considered, and if they are not worthy, they will not be supported.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga also proposed financial support policies for construction and carbon neutrality projects, including taxes and administrative procedures. There should be research and innovation application centers to strongly encourage businesses to apply clean technology and renewable energy. This will contribute significantly to the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions that the Prime Minister has committed to internationally, with the goal that by 2050 Vietnam can complete the Net Zero target.

In addition, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga also proposed having national programs and initiatives on innovation and sustainable development so that businesses can participate and have instructors for businesses.

Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of FPT Corporation, Head of the Private Economic Development Research Department, with the desire to remove the bottleneck of science and technology, suggested the need to "popularize AI", continuing the spirit of "popular education".

"The opportunity is coming, I suggest that AI be included in the education and training program as soon as possible. We are the ones directly implementing it, and it can be included in grade 1. However, the most important thing is the role of the State so that Vietnam can soon become a nation of artificial intelligence..." - Mr. Binh expressed.

Promoting green consumption wave

Mr. Tran Ba Duong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company (THACO), affirmed that he is working with the whole country in 2025 to achieve a growth rate of 8%.

Specifically, for automobiles, THACO holds 32% of the market share. THACO has also met the localization rate, from 27 - 40% for passenger cars, over 50% for trucks and over 20% for buses. Production costs are reduced, meeting the specific requirements of customers as well as usage conditions in Vietnam.

Mr. Duong said that THACO has formed a foundation for both product research and development and production organization, participating in the global value chain in mechanical manufacturing, thereby achieving high export growth.

With the Prime Minister's direction and guidance, THACO will focus on participating in urban railway construction, especially train cars and steel components. With a team of engineers and experience in product research and development, Mr. Duong affirmed that he will research and transfer appropriate technology and organize on-site production to reduce costs.

"We also promise to promote cooperation through large projects, which will help small and medium-sized enterprises participate in the production chain, as well as link up to order steel manufactured according to product standards," emphasized the THACO chairman.

Regarding agriculture, the THACO chairman said that after many years, the group has formed a large-scale agricultural production model, integrating circularity on an organic basis and has now succeeded with this model in Cambodia and Laos. "Once again, I would like to take responsibility for forming a production model in the highlands. Currently, identification in the highlands is difficult due to unsynchronized planning and irrigation systems, leading to some farmers being successful, some not, sometimes successful, sometimes not successful" - said the THACO chairman.

Enterprises contribute about 60% of GDP

Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung said that in 2024, our country successfully and comprehensively completed socio-economic development goals; achieved and exceeded all 15/15 targets; growth rate reached 7.09%, among the few countries with high growth in the region and the world; GDP scale reached 476.3 billion USD, ranked 33rd in the world; import and export reached 786 billion USD, among the 20 economies with the largest trade scale in the world; state budget revenue is estimated to exceed 19.8% of the estimate, of which revenue from the non-state economic sector exceeded 20.7%... These achievements have great contributions from the business community.

With more than 940 thousand operating enterprises, more than 30 thousand cooperatives and over 5 million business households, the business force has increasingly affirmed its important position and role in socio-economic development, industrialization and modernization of the country; contributing about 60% of GDP, 98% of total export turnover and creating jobs for about 85% of the country's workforce.
