Special-use forest is 9,063.27 hectares in a total area of 24 communes and towns. In recent years, the district has had many programs and policies to manage, protect and develop forests. In 2024 alone, the district was assigned over 15 billion VND to implement the project.
In recent times, Chiem Hoa district has focused on promoting commercial afforestation, intensive afforestation, and introducing new high-yield varieties. Every year, the People's Committees of communes in the district coordinate with agricultural extension units and forest rangers to open training courses on afforestation, promote the benefits of afforestation, and consider forests as the main direction in economic development. Currently, the communes are actively propagating to people to focus on taking care of newly planted and old forest areas to ensure that plants grow and develop well.
It is recorded that in Chan village (Nhan Ly commune, Chiem Hoa district, Tuyen Quang province), there is about 400 hectares of production forest land. This is also one of the three villages with the largest forest land area in the commune. In recent times, when the locality has promoted propaganda and mobilized people, it has also implemented support projects and provided technical guidance for local people to actively plant forests to replace fallow areas or low-value regenerated forests.
Up to now, basically the entire forestry land area in the village has been covered with green forest. Currently, Chan village has 73 households, of which 50 households participate in forest planting, each household plants an average of 1 hectare to over 20 hectares. Every year, dozens of hectares of forest in the area reach the age of exploitation, bringing in billions of VND in revenue, helping many households escape poverty sustainably.
Mr. Hoang Van Thang, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nhan Ly Commune, Chiem Hoa District, Tuyen Quang Province, shared: Thanks to good propaganda work and active support from the local government, people in 9 villages in the commune have a correct awareness of the practical benefits of afforestation. On average, each year, the commune plants 70 hectares of new forest, mainly trees such as: Acacia, Bodhi, etc.
To promote the effectiveness of the forest economy, the district pays special attention to developing the local wood processing industry. The district currently has over 100 wood processing establishments, of which 48 have large-scale processing capacity, typically: Thuan Gia Thanh Company Limited, Sao Viet Company Limited, Toan Phat Private Enterprise...; along with many small-scale household-scale processing establishments. In recent years, the number of establishments processing and trading sawn timber and bar timber has increased sharply, with the main processed products being: Chips, peeled boards, sawn boards, bar boards, crafted and household wooden furniture.
Along with the development of forest economy, functional sectors, forest owners and People's Committees of communes in Chiem Hoa district also strengthen coordination and perform well the task of forest management and protection.

In particular, strictly handle cases of violations of the Forestry Law according to regulations.
In addition, the district also effectively utilizes the role of village leaders and village elders in propaganda and mobilization work to mobilize people to join hands in protecting forests, raising awareness of each individual and household. Thereby, helping people understand the meaning and importance of forest protection, preserving forests means preserving the source of water for daily life as well as farming and agricultural production.
In the coming time, the Chiem Hoa District Forest Protection Department will continue to do a good job of advising local authorities to mobilize resources for forest development; continue to implement the assignment of forest areas to communities and people for management; strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to protect existing forest areas, boldly borrow capital, invest in forest planting to gradually improve income and quality of life.
It can be seen that, thanks to the efforts of the local government and people, the situation of people illegally cutting down trees in the forest has decreased significantly. The phenomenon of people clearing and burning forests for farming has also stopped, people join hands to protect the forest, especially in the dry season when the risk of forest fires is high.
