The highlight match of the first round is between Chelsea and Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, August 13. However, all four recent confrontations between these two teams have ended in 0-0 draws.
Runners-up Arsenal are expected to take all three points when they play at home against Nottingham Forest at Emirates Stadium, while Man Utd play their last match of the round against Wolverhampton at Old Trafford. Tottenham and Newcastle will face tough opponents Brentford and Aston Villa respectively.
The next rounds all have key matches, respectively Man City - Newcastle, Tottenham - Man Utd (round two), Newcastle - Liverpool (round three) or Arsenal - Man Utd (round four).
Among the top teams, Tottenham face a difficult end-of-season period. In late April and early May 2024, they will face Newcastle, Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool respectively. Meanwhile, Man City will end the season with four not-so-difficult matches against Nottingham, Wolverhampton, Fulham and West Ham.
The 20 clubs participating in the 2023-2024 Premier League are Arsenal, Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, Burnley, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, Liverpool, Luton Town, Man City, Man Utd, Newcastle, Nottingham, Sheffield United, Tottenham, West Ham and Wolverhampton. Of which, Burnley, Luton and Sheffield are new recruits.
As usual, the teams will play a round-robin home and away, with 38 rounds of points. If they defend their title, Man City will become the first club to win the English championship four consecutive seasons.
London has seven representatives in the tournament, with Arsenal, Brentford, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Fulham, Tottenham and West Ham. The largest stadium is Old Trafford with a capacity of over 74,000, while the smallest is Luton with a capacity of just over 10,000.
Compared to the last season - which started on August 5, 2022, the next Premier League season will start nearly a week later. The tournament does not have a winter break like Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 or La Liga.
