New Power Couple

The current difficult and awkward situation of the EU and NATO in responding to the ruling policies of US President Donald Trump, in supporting Ukraine and dealing with Russia has created an opportunity for French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to join forces to form a new power couple in Europe.

In recent days, these two leaders have been very active and proactive in raising the flag to rally forces in Europe, and at the same time, they have assumed the role of leading Europe to respond to the challenges it is facing. They are overshadowing the role and influence of the EU and NATO.

President Macron and Prime Minister Starmer have repeatedly proposed and chaired high-level meetings of different EU and NATO member groups to discuss how to respond to the new administration in Washington, to support Kyiv and to deal with Russia. Both have seized the opportunity that Europe currently lacks a leader who can lead it through the crisis and challenges. Both have shown great confidence in maintaining good relations with the new administration in the US and having enough prestige to lead Europe.

The Paris-London axis is now prominent and the President Macron/Prime Minister Starmer pair has been formed to counterbalance the US President Donald Trump/Russian President Putin pair. The two French and British leaders are currently taking advantage of the favorable weather and geographical conditions to build harmony for their ambitious role in Europe.
