On January 2, the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City held a press conference to inform about the 2025 spring flower market and the Tay Do Tet program that will take place during the Lunar New Year this year.
200 “completely free” stalls for traders in the spring flower market
Accordingly, the At Ty 2025 spring flower market will take place from January 17 to 28 (December 18 to 29 of the lunar calendar) at Tay Do Square, Mai Chi Tho Street, Urban Area 586, Cai Rang District, Can Tho.
There will be 200 booths displaying ornamental flowers, ornamental plants, and bonsai from traders, gardeners, and cooperatives in Can Tho City and the Mekong Delta provinces. The organizers said that all traders participating in this market will be “completely exempted” from paying for premises, electricity, and water.
At the press conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Luan - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Dong Thap province - said that the province has more than 3,000 hectares of flowers of all kinds, the most famous of which is Sa Dec flower village with more than 2,000 varieties of flowers.
This year, participating in the spring flower market in Can Tho, gardeners and traders in Dong Thap are very happy because they have another place to promote ornamental flowers in addition to traditional markets.
According to Mr. Luan, although the number of registrations had been "finalized" before, by the morning of January 2, many traders and gardeners in Dong Thap continued to register to participate in the Can Tho spring flower market, so he requested the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City to create conditions for the province to add more. "Dong Thap will accompany and participate well in this event," Mr. Luan promised.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Ai – Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Hau Giang province – also said that Can Tho chose the location around Tay Do Square as “very good” because it is large. He suggested that information and strong promotion of this event should be provided so that people know to visit here during Tet.
Experience the Tet offerings of three regions
Also at the press conference, the Can Tho Department of Industry and Trade announced the event “Tet Tay Do” with the theme Vietnamese Tet Flow taking place from January 17 to 23 (18 to 24 of the 12th lunar month) at Tay Do Square.
The event is not only a place to introduce specialties of the West but also brings experiences of the typical Tet culture of the three regions of the North, Central and South with more than 100 cultural and culinary booths from about 30 localities across the country.
Outstanding activities include: experiencing culinary culture of three regions, experiencing making Tet trays of three regions, experiencing making five-fruit trays, amateur music events...
“Like the offering trays for ancestors and people often say that the first day of Tet is for fathers, the second day of Tet is for uncles, the third day of Tet is for teachers, through this experiential activity, that will be shown again. How is the offering custom on the third day, how are the banh chung and banh giay of the North, and the banh tet of the South, the artisans will perform so that visitors can directly buy the offering trays here to worship their ancestors and also understand more about the national culture.
