Cadres and soldiers of Tam Ky town during the anti-American war met to celebrate the liberation day of Tam Ky city

On the morning of March 22, the Liaison Committee of Tam Ky town cadres and soldiers during the anti-American war held a meeting to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Tam Ky city and Quang Nam province and released the yearbook "A time to remember of the cadres and soldiers of Tam Ky town, period 1963 - 1975".

Attending the meeting were Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung, officers, soldiers, commanders, officers of military units participating in the liberation of Tam Ky; comrades who were former key leaders of Tam Ky city through the periods.

The meeting reviewed a proud historical period of the homeland. In the warm and emotional atmosphere, each former soldier did not forget to remind each other of the historic moment in Tam Ky town, that is, at exactly 10:30 a.m. on March 24, 1975, the flag of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam fluttered on the roof of Quang Tin provincial building, the first liberated provincial capital of the Central coastal plain, creating momentum and strength for our people and army to attack and liberate Da Nang city on March 29 of that year, contributing with the whole country to the historic Great Victory of Spring 1975, completely liberating the South and reunifying the country.

The liberation of Tam Ky town and Quang Nam province became a brilliant milestone in the history of the revolutionary struggle of the Party Committee, the army and the people of heroic Quang Nam. That victory had a great contribution from the cadres, soldiers and people of Tam Ky in the base area, who steadfastly stayed to shelter and protect the cadres and soldiers and they also became soldiers holding guns to fight the enemy. Among them, we must mention many resounding achievements of Unit 75A, the town agency, the armed security team, the V18 special forces company and the working teams of the town at that time.

With outstanding achievements, on August 22, 1998, the people and armed forces of the town were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the President. After the liberation day, the cadres and soldiers of the past continued to promote the nature of Uncle Ho's soldiers, actively participating in patriotic emulation movements, effectively implementing local programs, contributing to building the homeland to become increasingly rich and strong in the period of integration, industrialization and modernization.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung informed about the socio-economic development of Quang Nam, and expressed deep gratitude to the generations of fathers and brothers in the resistance war. Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung affirmed that the Party Committee and the People of Quang Nam will continue to promote the spirit of solidarity and unity to build and develop the province to become increasingly prosperous, focusing on improving people's lives, ensuring the best care for policy beneficiaries and meritorious people.
