Algiers, Algeria

Designed by architects Jules Voinot and Marius Toudoire, the Algiers Central Post Office was built in 1910. Featuring Moorish architecture, the building was converted by the local government into a museum about the history of postal and telecommunications in Algeria in 2015.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

The yellow facade and green shutters of the Ho Chi Minh City Central Post Office have transformed the building into not only a post office but also a tourist attraction. The building was built between 1886 and 1891 according to the design of architect Villedieu and his assistant Foulhoux.

The building has a classical European architectural style combined with Asian decoration, a symmetrical layout with two side blocks of 2 floors, the middle block of 3 floors, and a tiled sloping roof. On the facade there are many elaborately decorated arched windows. The entrance is a large arch with an iron lobby roof. On the lobby roof there is a round clock and a plaque recording the year the building was built: 1886 - 1891.

The interior of the building's trading space impresses with rows of elaborately detailed decorative steel columns and a steel-framed roof arch system. This roof arch system creates skylights on the top of the upper walls and from the roof.

In particular, two historical maps are still preserved here: Saigon et ses environs, 1892 (Saigon and its vicinity, 1892) and Telegraph lines of South Vietnam and Cambodia, 1936 (telegraph line map of South Vietnam and Cambodia, 1936).
