Ministry of Transport approves dredging policy of Ky Ha shipping channel

The Ministry of Transport has just approved the policy of dredging the Ky Ha shipping channel, Quang Nam province as proposed by Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company.

The Ministry of Transport has just approved the policy of dredging the Ky Ha shipping channel, Quang Nam province as proposed by Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company.

The Ministry of Transport requested the People's Committee of Quang Nam province to direct departments, branches and sectors to closely coordinate with the Vietnam Maritime Administration to guide and supervise the investor during the implementation process to ensure full compliance with relevant legal regulations on maritime security and safety, fire prevention and fighting and environmental protection.

The Ministry of Transport assigned the Vietnam Maritime Administration to guide, direct and supervise the investor in implementing the next steps to ensure full compliance with the provisions of Decree No. 57/2024/ND-CP dated May 20, 2024 of the Government on the management of dredging activities in seaport waters and inland waterway waters; Decree No. 58/2017/ND-CP dated May 10, 2017 of the Government detailing a number of articles of the Vietnam Maritime Code on the management of maritime activities, ensuring maritime security and safety, fire and explosion prevention and environmental protection; ensuring compliance with the planning approved by competent authorities; carrying out procedures for handover and acceptance of the maritime channel section after completion of dredging.

The Ministry of Transport requests that Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company be responsible for fully implementing the committed contents, dredging within the approved scope and standards of the waterway; the implementation of the next steps must fully comply with the provisions of Decree No. 57/2024/ND-CP dated May 20, 2024 of the Government; Decree 58/2017/ND-CP dated May 10, 2017 of the Government, legal provisions on investment, construction, environmental resources, minerals and other relevant provisions of law; not taking advantage of dredging to recover and salvage dredged products; implementing on schedule and quality; not causing negative impacts on security, safety, environment, landscape; taking responsibility for investment efficiency and investment costs; not requesting the State to reimburse costs.

“After the project is completed, Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company will hand over the project to the Vietnam Maritime Administration for management and operation according to regulations; it does not request the Ministry of Transport to allocate funds for dredging and maintaining the shipping channel,” the Ministry of Transport requested.
