Identifying vocational training and job creation for rural workers as one of the important "links" in socio-economic development and poverty reduction, in recent years Binh Gia district has implemented many solutions to improve the quality of local labor resources.
Binh Gia is a difficult district of Lang Son province, in the district there are 12 communes, 92/142 villages are extremely difficult. In recent years, Binh Gia district has always focused on vocational training for rural workers. After vocational training, many rural workers and many households have boldly invested in afforestation, turning barren and ineffective hilly land into a sustainable source of income for their families.
Mr. Nong Ngoc Nghi, Con Tau village, Tan Van commune, Binh Gia district said: After attending the forestry training class, I discussed with my family about investing in planting forests such as cinnamon, eucalyptus, acacia, etc. so that the family can have more income in the future.
"Thanks to participating in a forestry technical training class, his family has applied the techniques they learned to care for and develop their family's anise forest," said Mr. Nong Ngoc Nghi.
Also a participant in the vocational training class, Mr. Hoang Van Linh, Phai Danh village, Hoang Van Thu commune, said: He participated in the forestry planting class, he and the students were taught a lot of knowledge about industrial plants, as well as forestry plants, by the teachers of the vocational training center, especially the experience in growing star anise, from the stages of hoeing the soil, preparing holes and preparing fertilizer, choosing star anise varieties for the plants to grow and develop well.
The household of Mr. Nong Ngoc Nghi and Hoang Van Linh is just one of many farming households that have applied the knowledge learned from vocational training classes for rural workers into production. Currently, there are many economic models that have been put into practice after people have been trained, such as: raising chickens, growing mushrooms, dragon fruit, etc., bringing in a good income for many farming households.
The effectiveness of economic models applied after vocational training has received attention from people in improving their knowledge and skills, thereby creating motivation to participate in vocational training classes. This is also the premise to promote local economic development, at the same time increase the rate of trained workers, contributing to the implementation of New Rural and Advanced New Rural criteria in localities.
According to Mr. Hoang Kim Huu, Chairman of Tan Van Commune People's Committee, the Commune People's Committee has recently reviewed the needs for vocational training for the people. The Commune People's Committee has proactively coordinated with the Center for Vocational Education and Continuing Education to organize vocational training classes. Through annual classes, it has created conditions to help people have jobs and increase their income.
Mr. Hoang Van Thi, Director of Binh Gia District Vocational Education and Continuing Education Center, said: Implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction, Binh Gia District Vocational Education and Continuing Education Center is assigned the task of organizing vocational training classes for rural workers. Every year, we have designed training programs suitable for the educational level and socio-economic conditions of the locality and vocational training is associated with job creation after training, aiming to increase income for rural workers and sustainably reduce poverty.
According to the report of Binh Gia District People's Committee, from 2021-2024, Binh Gia District has opened 11 vocational training classes for rural workers, with 376 students participating. After people learned vocational training, especially in farming and animal husbandry classes, they knew how to apply knowledge into practice to increase production very effectively.
From the effectiveness of vocational training, in 2024, the District Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center also opened 05 vocational training classes for rural workers in the area. It is estimated that by December 30, the disbursement will reach 100% of the plan.
According to statistics, the rate of trained workers reached 58.42%. Most of the trainees after training created jobs for themselves, applied their knowledge in practice, improved work efficiency and improved their family economy. The rural appearance has improved a lot, the poverty rate in 2023 was 14.78%, down over 6% compared to 2022; the whole district has 9/18 communes meeting new rural standards; the rate of solidified car roads to the commune center reached 94.5%...
