In 2019, the quality of Vietnam's vocational training ranked 8th in the ASEAN region, but now it is in the top 4, from 3.8 points in 2018 to now reaching 4.4 points on a 6-point scale.
On the afternoon of January 17, at the ceremony to announce the results of the vocational education quality assessment of the Far East College, Mr. Truong Anh Dung, Director General of the General Department of Vocational Education, Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, emphasized the importance of vocational training.
In particular, vocational training plays a key role in improving skills and creating job opportunities for workers, improving the quality of Vietnamese human resources.
Vietnam's vocational training quality increases in ASEAN rankings
Mr. Dung said: "According to the survey and statistics on the Global Competitiveness Index (PCI) of the World Economic Forum (WEF), in 2019, the quality of vocational training in Vietnam ranked 8th in the ASEAN region, but now it is in the top 4. The report conducted by the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) also shows that in 2018, the quality of vocational training in Vietnam on a 6-point scale was only 3.8 points, but now it has reached 4.4 points. This confirms that quality assurance at vocational schools in recent years has been enhanced and given much attention."
It is known that the assessment results show that Vien Dong College meets 9 criteria and 100 standards with a total score of 96/100. This score is considered by Mr. Truong Anh Dung to be at a very high level in the assessment of the quality of vocational education institutions.
Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Thanh Binh, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Education, Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Vietnam Association of Universities and Colleges (right) congratulated the collective of Far East College.
According to Mr. Dung, assessing the quality of vocational education requires a process of effort and consensus from leaders to lecturers and students. "Vocational schools need to develop a quality assurance system and build a culture of quality. We must be determined to say no to low quality for vocational education to develop," Mr. Dung said.
Here, Dr. Tran Thanh Hai, Principal of Far East College, shared that in recent times, the school has invested in facilities, laboratory equipment, and practice workshops that are close to businesses. In addition, the training program is innovated, designed in a practical direction, updated according to the requirements of businesses and labor market trends.
