During July 13-14, experts from the Vietnam Audiology Association transferred technology and provided knowledge training to medical staff at the Provincial General Hospital.
This is one of the activities in the comprehensive cooperation agreement between the Vietnam Audiology Association and Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital.
Medical experts of the Vietnam Audiology Association have transferred some endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery techniques; functional ear and neuro-ear surgery to doctors of the Department of Otolaryngology, Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital.

At the handover ceremony, 8 patients were successfully operated on by experts from the Vietnam Audiology Association and doctors from Lao Cai General Hospital.

Functional endoscopic ear surgery has many advantages, such as: surgery performed inside the ear canal, almost no visible incision, little blood loss, high aesthetics, no effect on the ear rim.
This is the technique with the least anatomical damage and the best efficiency, indicated in cases of tympanic membrane perforation, and more deeply, tympanic membrane perforation with damage to the ossicular system.
The successful technology transfer activity helped the medical team at the Provincial General Hospital improve their professional capacity, master advanced techniques in treating ear diseases, and help many patients receive treatment locally.

On this occasion, Associate Professor Nguyen Tan Phong, Senior Lecturer of the Vietnam Audiology Association, directly trained the staff of Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital on: temporal bone CT scan techniques, endoscopic surgical methods to treat congenital Cholesteatoma in children, tympanic membrane repair with OTK, endoscopic ear function surgery... helping the medical team of the Provincial General Hospital update in-depth knowledge of ear - audiology.
