Closing and awarding ceremony of the International Dance Festival

On the evening of August 21, at the Cultural - Cinema Center of Thua Thien Hue province, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province and the Department of Performing Arts held the Closing Ceremony of the International Dance Festival - 2024.

Attending the program were Mr. Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Permanent Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the Department of Performing Arts, Department of International Cooperation, Vietnam Dance Artists Association; representatives of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Culture and Sports of provinces and cities with dance art units participating in the festival, along with many artists, actors and audiences.

Taking place from August 17 to 22 in Hue city, the International Dance Festival - 2024 with the message "Convergence, Creativity - Shine Together" gathered nearly 500 artists and actors from 17 art units representing 9 countries. In his evaluation and summary speech, People's Artist Nguyen Cong Nhac, Chairman of the Jury Council, said that the festival brought to the Vietnamese audience in general and the audience in Hue city extremely unique, diverse and rich in national folklore performances.

The audience experienced the cultural colors from many different countries through the music, images, and movements of the dancers on stage. National and international choreographers and artists made efforts to convey the stories, messages, and cultural identities of their countries through creativity, combining dance genres in their works and the body language of dance.

With the criteria: "Encouraging new creative works imbued with the national cultural identity of countries, reflecting the colorful life of society and people truthfully, deeply and vividly", the delegations attending the festival have created a lively and colorful cultural exchange space.

From the culturally rich performances from the Indonesian troupe, the vibrant performances from the Malaysian and Lao troupes, the combination of traditional Vietnamese folk music with Indian folk dances, or the collective performances imbued with the national folk cultural identity of the art troupes from China, UAE, Philippines, Cambodia, etc., it can be seen that the investment in choreography from international art troupes has further affirmed the significance and role of the 2024 International Dance Festival.

According to People's Artist Nguyen Cong Nhac, in this festival, Vietnamese art troupes have achieved remarkable successes through their performances and independent dance works. These special achievements come from a number of professional art theaters along with leading art training units such as the Vietnam Dance Academy, Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema, and the Military University of Culture and Arts.

The works performed focused on themes and folk dance materials of different ethnic groups and regions, while subtly combining them with modern dance. The smooth combination of music and dance contributed to creating breakthrough works with high artistic quality.

The Organizing Committee of the International Dance Festival - 2024 awarded the certificate to the Arts Council.

"To achieve these successes, it is necessary to recognize the creativity and talent of the generation of young choreographers and dancers. Typical works such as "Nang May" by the Vietnam Dance Academy and "Hoa tinh nhan gian" by the Military University of Culture and Arts have clearly demonstrated innovation and creativity in dance art, making a strong impression on dance-loving audiences, friends and colleagues at home and abroad," People's Artist Nguyen Cong Nhac said.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong said that the International Dance Festival - 2024 was truly an art festival for artists and actors from different countries to meet, exchange and share experiences in artistic creation. Introducing and honoring the unique values ​​in the dance art of each country, contributing to strengthening the solidarity of the international community in the field of culture and arts; at the same time promoting cooperation in the field of culture and arts between Vietnam and countries around the world.

According to the Deputy Minister, the festival left good feelings in the hearts of participating artists, actors and the Vietnamese public. The success of the festival not only demonstrated the efforts of the host country Vietnam but also the enthusiastic participation of art troupes representing countries around the world.

"With the message "Convergence, Creativity - Shine Together", the International Dance Festival - 2024 has completed its mission of strengthening friendship, solidarity and cooperation between countries around the world. Affirming that culture and art play an important role in the common development of countries", Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong emphasized.

The Organizing Committee rewards units and individuals with outstanding achievements.

At the end of the festival, the Organizing Committee awarded 5 Gold Medals and 10 Silver Medals to units with excellent performances.

Specifically, the Gold Medals were awarded to the performances: "Human Love Painting" by the Military University of Culture and Arts; "The Harvest" by the Lao PDR Art Troupe; "Contemporary dance "Jagad Jiwa" by the Republic of Indonesia Art Troupe; "The Cloud Lady" by the Vietnam Dance Academy; "Scene 6: The Fish Watching the Moon" by the Opera and Ballet Theater.

The Silver Medals were awarded to the following performances: "Art of Al-Madimah" by the United Arab Emirates Art Troupe; "Yen Lam" by the Lotus Folk Song and Dance Theatre; "Embroidery Time" by the Art Troupe of the People's Republic of China; "Dashaavtar - A Dance Drama depicting Ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu" by the Art Troupe of the Republic of India; "Weaving" by the Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema; "Male and Female Drums" by the Art Troupe of Ha Giang Province; "Sinh sinh mua Vang" by the Vietnam Music and Dance Theatre; "Tan thoi" by the Thang Long Music and Dance Theatre; "Hon sac Bunoong" by the Dak Nong Folk Song and Dance Troupe; "Philippinas" by the Art Troupe of the Republic of the Philippines.
