Ho Chi Minh City and UK cooperate in science, technology and innovation

(NLDO)- The cooperation will promote digital transformation and innovation in Ho Chi Minh City, aiming for long-term sustainable growth.

On March 27, the Ho Chi Minh City Digital Transformation Center and the British Consulate General signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation. Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy witnessed the signing ceremony.

Accordingly, priority areas of cooperation include: digital transformation (e-government platform and digitalization of public services, supporting businesses in general and small and medium enterprises in particular to transform to digital business models); smart city technology; financial technology (fintech); transformation technology (artificial intelligence, robotics and automation, nanotechnology, cyber security); health care technology (healthtech).

This Memorandum of Understanding also aims to support Ho Chi Minh City in effectively implementing the goals, requirements, and tasks according to the Action Program to implement Resolution 57/2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, which the city has set out.

The two sides will establish a joint working group to monitor and evaluate the implementation of this Memorandum of Understanding. The working group will meet annually at a location mutually decided by the two sides.

Regarding resources to implement the Memorandum of Understanding, the parties agree that it will be based on the ability of each participating party to have sufficient appropriate funds.

At the same time, the parties also agreed that confidentiality and intellectual property during the implementation of this Memorandum of Understanding will ensure compliance with national laws and international commitments.
