The Titled Tuesday tournament took place in the early morning of April 3 (Vietnam time) and gathered 675 players with the title of Grandmaster or higher, including many of the world's leading Grandmasters.
Vietnamese Grandmaster Le Quang Liem played excellently, remaining undefeated after 11 games, earning a total of 10 points with 9 wins and 2 draws, thereby convincingly winning the championship.
Notably, Quang Liem defeated Grandmasters Parham Maghsoodloo (Iran) and Sunilduth Lyna Narayanan (India) respectively.
In the match against Narayana, Quang Liem made his mark with an impressive victory. The Vietnamese player attacked directly, then sacrificed his queen to checkmate with his rook on the 40th move.
Quang Liem's toughest opponent in the tournament was Hikaru Nakamura (USA) who finished in second place with 9.5 points (8 wins, 3 draws), including a draw with Quang Liem in the 9th game.
Quang Liem and Nakamura were both undefeated throughout the 11 games. Meanwhile, world number one Magnus Carlsen retired after winning all 5 games without any clear reason.
Thus, this is the sixth time Quang Liem has been crowned at the Titled Tuesday system. In 2025 alone, this is the second time he has been crowned champion, the first time being with a perfect record of winning all 11 matches on February 4.
