Regarding the violations that occurred at the Flood-proof Residential Area of Cay Duong Town, Phung Hiep District, Hau Giang Province, on the evening of January 11, the Investigation Security Agency of Hau Giang Provincial Police initiated a case, prosecuted and detained Mr. Tran Van Thang, former Vice Chairman of Phung Hiep District People's Committee; Tran Khong Dan, Vice Chairman of Phung Hiep District People's Committee and Nguyen Thanh Dien, Deputy Director of the District Land Fund Development Center.

Previously, the Investigation Security Agency of Hau Giang Provincial Police decided to prosecute the case of Abusing position and power while performing official duties that occurred at the Flood-proof Residential Area of Cay Duong town on November 24, 2023.
After a period of investigation and evidence collection, the Investigation Security Agency of Hau Giang Province Police determined that from 2011 to 2015, the defendants Thang, Dan and Dien, who were the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Council for reviewing households for the Flood-Proof Residential Area of Phung Hiep District, committed many violations in reviewing and granting households for the Flood-Proof Residential Area of Cay Duong Town.
The defendants' violations led to 69 cases/69 plots of land being granted to the wrong subjects, causing damage to the State budget of over 3.5 billion VND.
On the same day, the Investigation Security Agency of Hau Giang Province Police executed a search warrant at the workplace and residence of the suspects Dan, Dien and Thang. The case is currently under further investigation.
