Problems related to licensing procedures for sand exploitation to supply the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway have been basically resolved.
A week after the working session of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh with the southern provinces, up to now, the licensing procedures for exploitation at a number of sand and stone mines supplying the North-South East project in the 2021-2025 phase, Can Tho - Ca Mau section (Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway) have been removed.
Can Tho - Ca Mau Expressway no longer worries about lack of sand for construction.
According to the My Thuan Project Management Board, as of March 14, An Giang province has resolved and allowed sand mining to resume in Khanh Hoa commune (Chau Phu district) and Hoa Lac commune (Phu Tan district).
Total reserves are over 1.9 million m3. Hai Dang Joint Stock Company and Tan Nam Company are direct exploitation contractors.
At the same time, approval was given to resume exploitation and recovery of river sand minerals for the Vam Nao River dredging project (Phu Tan district), which has been suspended since the end of October 2024.
In Dong Thap, the People's Committee of this province has also resolved procedures to increase the exploited reserves for two mines in Thuong Thoi Tien commune (Hong Ngu district) and My Xuong commune (Cao Lanh district), with reserves of more than 475 thousand m3.
These are mines granted to the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway project that have fully exploited their reserves in the confirmation but still have reserves to exploit.
Regarding the source of stone materials for the construction of the road foundation for the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway project, the My Thuan Project Management Board said that An Giang province has extended the license to exploit Antraco stone quarry to serve the project.
In Kien Giang, the locality has also assigned some areas of Tra Duoc Lon and Hon Soc stone quarries to the contractor VNCN E&C Construction and Engineering Investment Joint Stock Company for exploitation under a special mechanism. Currently, the contractor is completing procedures and starting exploitation.
"After the working trip of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, Minister and Deputy Minister of Construction to Dong Thap province on March 6, the difficulties and obstacles in supplying sand and stone materials for the project were resolved.
Contractors are currently exploiting and transporting sand and stone to the construction site, with the determination to complete the project in 2025 according to the direction of the Prime Minister," said the leader of the My Thuan Project Management Board.
Can Tho - Ca Mau Expressway is over 110km long, with a total investment of over 27,500 billion VND. It is divided into two component projects.
Of which, the Can Tho - Hau Giang section is more than 37km long. The total investment is more than 10,370 billion VND. The Hau Giang - Ca Mau section is more than 73km long. The total investment is more than 17,152 billion VND.
Construction started in January 2023 and is expected to be completed in 2025.
According to the report of My Thuan Project Management Board, the Can Tho - Hau Giang component project has currently reached about 67% of the construction output; the Hau Giang - Ca Mau section has reached about 57% of the plan.
Previously, on March 6, in Dong Thap, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha chaired a working session to speed up the progress of key projects in the Mekong Delta region.
Here, the Deputy Prime Minister directed localities to focus on resolutely resolving difficulties and problems related to licensing procedures for exploitation and re-exploitation of sand and stone mines identified to supply expressway projects.
Before March 10, the project must be completed and handed over to contractors for exploitation, to avoid projects being delayed due to lack of materials.
