According to the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), storm No. 4 and floods caused damage in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Thua Thien-Hue, and Quang Nam.
Local reports as of 7:00 a.m. on September 26 show that storm No. 4 and heavy rains have killed 3 people due to flash floods in Nghe An.
Storm No. 4 caused 10 houses to collapse in Nghe An; 373 houses were damaged or had their roofs blown off (Thanh Hoa 219 houses, Nghe An 97 houses, Ha Tinh 28 houses, Thua Thien-Hue 12 houses, Quang Nam 17 houses).
Regarding agriculture, storm No. 4 damaged more than 7,500 hectares of rice, crops and plants in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh, of which more than 1,120 hectares of rice, more than 5,021 hectares of crops and 1,404 hectares of other crops were flooded and damaged.
Regarding aquaculture, more than 2,377 hectares of aquaculture were damaged, of which Nghe An lost more than 1,901 hectares, Thanh Hoa 394 hectares, and Ha Tinh 41.5 hectares. Regarding livestock, 83 cattle and 18,714 poultry died.
In localities, storm No. 4 and floods caused 2,110m of canals to be eroded, washed away, and damaged; 20 irrigation works were damaged.
In addition, 40 schools were flooded and damaged. In Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh, 464 national highways and 399 provincial and rural roads were eroded. Currently, the national highways are open to traffic.
Previously, localities organized on-duty teams, monitored forecast information and natural disaster warnings to deploy response measures, and urgently overcome the consequences of storm No. 4 and floods. Thanh Hoa province evacuated 3,624 households/13,788 people; Nghe An evacuated 104 households; Ha Tinh evacuated 49 households; Quang Binh evacuated 55 households. Currently, the water has receded, and localities are supporting people to overcome the consequences and clean up the environment.
On September 26, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha will inspect the work to overcome the consequences of floods and storms and visit and encourage people affected by the damage in Thanh Hoa province./.
