Meanwhile, the price of SJC gold bars traded at DOJI in Hanoi at the end of the session on January 16 was listed at 73.95 million VND per tael for buying and 76.45 million VND per tael for selling.

The international spot gold price on the Kitco floor at 9:35 p.m. on January 16, Vietnam time was at 2,038.7 USD per ounce. The price of gold for February 2024 delivery on the Comex floor in New York was at 2,045.6 USD per ounce.

The central exchange rate between the Vietnamese Dong and the US dollar announced by the State Bank on January 17 was 23,987 VND/USD, down 5 VND compared to the previous session. The USD price at commercial banks on January 16 increased quite strongly, at the end of the session it was listed around 24,340-24,710 VND/USD (buy - sell).

In line with the trend, the world USD price also increased sharply. The DXY index - measuring the strength of the USD compared to 6 major currencies - at 9:31 p.m. on January 16, Vietnam time was at 103.17 points, up 0.74% compared to the previous session.

Today, January 17, the price of gasoline and oil on the international market continued to increase from the previous session. Oil prices recovered due to concerns about tighter supply.

In the domestic market, the selling price of gasoline and oil today, January 17, is applied according to the price at the management session on the afternoon of January 11.

The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade have adjusted the price of gasoline and oil upward. Notably, the price of RON 95 gasoline has increased to nearly 22,000 VND per liter.

Specifically, the retail price of E5 RON 92 gasoline increased to VND21,040 per liter. The price of RON 95 gasoline increased to VND21,930 per liter.

Meanwhile, diesel prices rose to VND19,700 per liter. Kerosene prices increased to VND20,330 per liter.
