All the garbage at the highway molding site has been dug up but the construction unit needs another 10 days to complete the job.
On December 31, speaking with Giao Thong Newspaper reporters, Mr. Tran Tien Dat, Deputy Director of the Project Management and Land Fund Development Board of Cai Rang District, Can Tho City, said that the progress of relocating landfill No. 8 (Ba Lang Ward, Cai Rang District) has reached about 80%.

"The garbage at the roadside has been dug up and moved to both sides. The construction unit needs to handle the clearance boundary and create a slope because the excavation depth is up to 7-8m. We need about 10 more days to complete all the work and hand over 100% of the clean site for the expressway project," said Mr. Dat.
Mr. Dat also said that on the same day, the unit worked with the My Thuan Project Management Board (Ministry of Transport, investor of the Can Tho - Ca Mau Expressway) to agree on the handover of the roadbed. According to him, with this handed over area, the expressway construction unit can start pumping sand.
According to the Cai Rang District Project Management and Land Fund Development Board, at the end of the year, Can Tho experienced unseasonal rains that hindered the relocation. In addition, during the excavation process, groundwater rose, making it difficult for machinery to operate. The construction unit was forced to dig temporary holes to pump out the water.
During the flood season, contractors work hard from early morning until 10pm every day.
Landfill No. 8 covers an area of 4.3 hectares, with a total waste volume of over 162,000 tons. The relocation of the landfill has been approved by the People's Committee of Cai Rang District in terms of design and budget, with an area of 1.95 hectares and a cost of VND13.08 billion. The implementation period is 45 days, starting from November 15.
The Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway project belongs to the North - South expressway construction project in the East phase 2021-2025, divided into two component projects: Can Tho - Hau Giang and Hau Giang - Ca Mau.

Of which, the section from Nam Song Hau National Highway to IC2 intersection is more than 2.2km long; The section from IC2 intersection to National Highway 1 is 7km long, landfill No. 8 is located at the intersection with National Highway 1.
