Planting flowers on roads
Since April 2023, the People's Committee of Chau Duc District (Ba Ria - Vung Tau) has issued a plan to implement the breakthrough "50% of traffic routes are planted with flowers" in the district in 2023. Immediately after this plan was issued, the People's Committees of communes and towns proactively reported to the Party Committee to develop an implementation plan, mobilizing the entire political system and local people to join hands in planting, caring for and protecting trees, raising awareness and responsibility in maintaining public hygiene, implementing many activities to protect the landscape, environment, and village roads and alleys.

Hang 3 Street, Vinh An Hamlet (Binh Gia Commune) used to be a bumpy dirt road, people often littered on both sides of the road, affecting the environment and the beauty of the village. After the road was paved, the government encouraged people to join hands to plant flowers on both sides of the road. Currently, the road is planted with beautiful bougainvillea and sunflowers.
The 2km long road to Trung Nghia village (Nghia Thanh commune) was encouraged by the Women's Union to plant yellow trumpet flowers along the roadside. The trees have now grown and are continuously blooming bright yellow flowers. Since the road was planted with yellow trumpet flowers, people have stopped littering on both sides of the road.
Implementing the movement of planting flowers and trees along traffic routes, the Party Committee and People's Committee of Binh Ba commune mobilized departments, branches, organizations and people to plant about 1,200 yellow trumpet vine trees along National Highway 56. A leader of the People's Committee of Binh Ba commune said that up to now, nearly 30km of traffic routes in the commune have been planted with flowers. Suoi Nghe commune alone has planted 2,400 flowers of various types such as five-color, yellow bell, red butterfly, ten o'clock... on more than 32km of traffic routes.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Ban, Chairman of Chau Duc District People's Committee, said that planting flowers along traffic routes in the district has been carried out by local authorities and people for a long time. However, the flower planting is still fragmented, small-scale, and not uniform, so the number of flowers planted is not much and the efficiency is not high.
Currently, Chau Duc district is implementing the breakthrough "50% of traffic routes are planted with flowers" in 2023 to ensure uniformity and unity with the aim of changing the appearance of the district's roads into green, clean and beautiful roads... To ensure that the trees grow well, after planting, localities directly manage and mobilize people to care for and protect them.
More than 620 km of roads are planted with flowers
Mr. Nguyen Tan Ban, Chairman of Chau Duc District People's Committee, said that through the implementation, communes and towns have mobilized and encouraged people and communities to participate in planting nearly 170,000 new flower trees of all kinds, with a total length of more than 620km, reaching 101.6% of the district's general plan target. The total mobilized budget for implementation is more than 5 billion VND.

Many localities have formed beautiful and typical flower routes that people have joined hands to plant, care for and maintain regularly; creating a beautiful image of the rural countryside, contributing to promoting the image of Chau Duc district to tourists inside and outside the province", Mr. Nguyen Tan Ban, Chairman of Chau Duc District People's Committee shared.
According to the Chairman of Chau Duc District People's Committee, in addition to meeting the criteria for green trees on rural traffic routes in the set of advanced NTM criteria, the planting also gradually changes people's awareness in planting and caring for green trees, maintaining environmental sanitation, contributing to building bright, green, clean and beautiful roads, thereby making Chau Duc a livable rural area. When beautiful flower strips are formed, it will limit littering, contribute to environmental protection, and build urban landscapes and aesthetics.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Ban said that in the coming time, the district will direct communes and towns to continue to effectively implement the work of caring for and maintaining the flower roads that have been planted, mobilizing the community to participate, creating a spread, raising awareness of preserving beauty, protecting the living environment in the community on a regular basis in the communes and towns; contributing to effectively implementing the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life", the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas", the campaign "Building families of 5 no, 3 clean", the movement "Party members volunteer to build new rural areas" in the district.
Communes and towns proactively review roads with sidewalks and space for plants to grow and develop to have a plan to plant flowers by 2025 (reaching 80% or more). Of which, select a number of roads to focus on implementation, forming beautiful and typical flower routes that create a unique highlight of the district and locality for people and tourists inside and outside the province.
