How does Ba Ria - Vung Tau aim to build more than 12,000 social housing units?

On November 24, the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province announced that it had issued a plan to develop social housing in the province for the 2023-2025 period.

The plan sets out the general goal of developing social housing and worker housing at prices suitable to the affordability of middle- and low-income households in urban areas and of workers and laborers in industrial zones.

The State encourages economic sectors to develop housing to create conditions for everyone to have a place to live according to the market mechanism, meeting all people's needs, and at the same time has policies to support housing for social policy beneficiaries, low-income people and the poor who have housing difficulties.

Accordingly, this locality sets a target of striving to implement 17 projects with 12,798 social housing units by 2025, with a scale of 54.3 hectares, reaching 206% of the target assigned by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 338/QD-TTg and reaching 176% of the target assigned by the Provincial People's Council in Resolution No. 35/NQ-HDND.

Of which, there are 12 social housing projects for low-income earners, with 9,451 units. There are 3 projects for industrial park workers, with 3,034 units, and 2 social housing projects with 20% land fund, with 313 units.

Specifically, Vung Tau City has 3 social housing projects, with a scale of 11 hectares, with 4,254 apartments; Ba Ria City has the Go Cat 6 Social Housing Area Project (Area A, B), with a scale of 1.3 hectares, with 1,942 apartments; Phu My Town has 5 projects, including 2 social housing projects for low-income earners and 3 projects for industrial park workers.

Long Dien district has 2 social housing projects for low-income people; Chau Duc district has 3 projects, including 1 social housing project for low-income people and 2 projects in the 20% social housing land fund; Xuyen Moc district has 2 social housing projects for low-income people.

Con Dao District: 1 project, scale 0.6ha, arrangement of 132 houses, investment from the budget of about 225.3 billion VND, with the People's Committee of Con Dao District as the investor. This project is under construction, expected to be completed and put into use by April 2024.

Ba Ria - Vung Tau province estimates that the capital to complete housing development in this phase is about 10,439 billion VND. Of which, social mobilized capital is about 10,214 billion VND (mainly from enterprises and local preferential loans from development investment funds, social policy banks, and other credit institutions) and budget capital is about 225 billion VND.
