Domestic pepper price updated on February 21, 2025

According to the General Department of Customs, Vietnam's pepper exports in the first half of February 2025 reached 6,154 tons, worth 41.5 million USD, down 3.6% in volume and 2.2% in value compared to the first half of January.

Accumulated from the beginning of the year to February 15, the export of this item reached 19,083 tons, worth 128.8 million USD, down 17.2% in volume but up sharply by nearly 39% in value compared to the same period last year. The export volume of pepper has continuously decreased since the second half of last year until now, showing that the old crop supply is not much left while the new harvest is late due to the impact of unfavorable weather.

On the other hand, in the first half of February, Vietnam imported 1,297 tons of pepper, worth 5.9 million USD. Indonesia is the main pepper supplier to Vietnam, with 868 tons, accounting for 66.9%, followed by Brazil with 300 tons, accounting for 23.1%. Pearl Group, Ptexim Corp and Harris Spice are the three main importers, with 137 tons, 125 tons and 109 tons, respectively.

According to statistics, Vietnam's total pepper export turnover in 2024 will reach 1.32 billion USD, with a total export volume of up to 250,600 tons. This is a record number so far, reflecting the strong growth trend of the industry.

Experts say that the supply of pepper in the global market is currently in short supply, while demand remains stable or continues to grow. Pepper prices are forecast to continue to increase this year due to reduced output and demand exceeding supply.

The Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA) believes that the global pepper market outlook in 2025 will continue to be positive. Pepper output is forecast to decline amid extreme weather conditions affecting productivity in many countries. This creates opportunities for the pepper export industry, especially as China, despite having low pepper imports from Vietnam in 2024, is expected to increase demand as soon as Vietnam enters its main harvest season.
