Domestic pepper price updated on February 22, 2025

According to information from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in the first half of February 2025, Vietnam successfully exported 7,535 tons of pepper, with a total turnover of 51.5 million USD.

The US and Germany are the leading consumers of Vietnamese pepper, with imports reaching 2,829 tons and 1,326 tons, respectively. However, the Chinese market has yet to show signs of a strong recovery, causing pepper exports to not see a significant improvement.

However, VPSA believes that the outlook for the global pepper market in 2025 will continue to be positive. Pepper output is forecast to decrease amid extreme weather conditions affecting productivity in many countries. This creates opportunities for the pepper export industry, especially in the Chinese market, which, despite low pepper imports from Vietnam in 2024, is expected to see increased demand as soon as Vietnam enters its main harvest season.

On the other hand, in the first half of February 2025, Vietnam imported 1,297 tons of pepper, worth 5.9 million USD. Indonesia is the main pepper supplier to Vietnam, with 868 tons, accounting for 66.9%, followed by Brazil with 300 tons, accounting for 23.1%. Pearl Group, Ptexim Corp and Harris Spice are the 3 main importers, with 137 tons, 125 tons and 109 tons, respectively.

Experts say that the supply of pepper in the global market is currently in short supply, while demand remains stable or continues to grow. Pepper prices are forecast to continue to increase this year due to reduced output and demand exceeding supply.
