The contract for purchasing Russian wheat was signed in accordance with international practice, the ministry noted.
Under the agreement, 175,000 tons of wheat will be delivered by sea between September 15 and September 30. The second batch of 60,000 tons will arrive at Egyptian ports between October 1 and 15. Earlier, the Merchant newspaper reported that Russia had sold its first wheat shipments to Egypt after withdrawing from the Black Sea grain deal.
Egyptian state-owned GASC received 30 bids during the tender process, 20 of which were for Russian wheat. Egypt had previously been a major buyer of Ukrainian grain under the Black Sea grain deal.
