On the afternoon of September 12, the organizing committee of the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians held an international press conference about the conference program, which will take place from September 14 to 17.

Reporting on the expected program and content of the conference, Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Hai Ha said the general theme of the conference is the role of young people in promoting the implementation of sustainable development goals through digital transformation and innovation.
Young parliamentarians will discuss three topics including digital transformation; innovation and entrepreneurship; promoting respect for cultural diversity for sustainable development.
Hosting this conference contributes to affirming Vietnam's active, responsible and proactive participation in the IPU - the world's largest inter-parliamentary organization.
At the same time, it shows Vietnam's attention and concern for youth and the global issues of today's youth.
The conference contributes to promoting Vietnam's interests through parliamentary channels, meeting development requirements and trends in the new period.
National Assembly Secretary General Bui Van Cuong emphasized that this is the largest conference ever with nearly 500 delegates.
More than 300 international delegates attended with many rich and diverse activities.
Mr. Cuong stated that the preparation process for the conference demonstrates the care and concern of the Vietnamese Party and State for the young generation.
The Vietnamese National Assembly prepared carefully, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue had many initiatives and closely directed the preparation for the conference.
This is an opportunity to introduce to international friends about the country and people of Vietnam because "a hundred hearings are not as good as one seeing" about the innovation and development of Vietnam. For young parliamentarians - some of whom will become national leaders in the future - through the conference, they have the opportunity to understand Vietnam better.
According to Mr. Cuong, it is expected to adopt a conference statement on the role of youth in promoting the implementation of sustainable development goals through digital transformation and innovation.
This will be the first statement after eight conferences, calling for the commitment of young people in implementing the millennium goals.
Concentrating the intelligence of over 100 countries through elite young parliamentarians
Referring to digital transformation - one of the contents of the conference, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam said that the world faces a number of relatively similar problems on a global scale and also has the opportunity to find solutions to those problems.
One point that can be fully exploited is the achievements of science and technology through digital transformation to simplify the decision-making process, access information and knowledge; and shorten the distance between countries.
Mr. Lam said he hopes the discussion will focus on the wisdom of more than 100 countries through outstanding young parliamentarians representing voters and people, and the generation that will materialize and realize this dream with their own solutions.
Ms. Zena Hial - Director of the Inter-Parliamentary Union's Young Parliamentarians Program - expressed her gratitude to the Vietnamese National Assembly and Vietnamese leaders for creating the opportunity for the IPU to co-organize the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians - a special international event for the young generation.
She also expressed her gratitude for the role of Vietnamese leaders in not only hosting this conference but also making efforts to improve and empower young people, the clearest evidence of which was the large number of young people attending the event (nearly 500 delegates).
She emphasized that this is not just a mere number but the number of delegates who are truly interested in attending the event to contribute their efforts on the topic of digital transformation, innovation, and implementation of sustainable development goals.
She believes Vietnam is the perfect host for the conference.
