Hanoi will spend nearly 10,000 billion VND to upgrade and expand Highway 70 through Nam Tu Liem district, Ha Dong - Van Dien section and Tam Trinh street to reduce traffic congestion and accidents.
Road 70 through Nam Tu Liem District Road 70 is the route connecting the provinces in the Northwest region with Hanoi. For the Hanoi area, the route is considered an important bridge to ensure connectivity and promote socio-economic development in the South and West of the city. According to records on February 6, the road surface of Road 70 through Nam Tu Liem District is only about 7-8 m wide (in both directions). When traveling in the same direction, cars behind must follow the car in front or encroach on the opposite lane if they want to pass. Motorbikes and bicycles only have about half a meter of road to go. The bottleneck on Highway 70 (Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi) causes frequent traffic congestion. Photo: Huu Chanh People who regularly travel here compare Highway 70 to the "road of death" in Hanoi because in addition to serious accidents, minor collisions between vehicles occur "like daily meals" on the above road section. According to Lao Dong's investigation, in order to gradually reduce traffic congestion and accidents here, the Hanoi People's Council has unanimously approved the investment policy, upgrading and expanding Highway 70 (from Trinh Van Bo Street to the end of Nam Tu Liem District). The project is nearly 5 km long with a total capital of nearly 3,400 billion VND, invested by the People's Committee of Nam Tu Liem District, implemented in the period of 2022 - 2027. Highway 70, Ha Dong - Van Dien section Over the past years, Highway 70, Ha Dong - Van Dien section, has become overloaded when having to receive a large number of vehicles every day. "The road is narrow, there are many vehicles, especially large cars, so just a little carelessness can easily lead to an accident. At night when the road is empty, convoys of dump trucks, containers... run like a race, roaring and tearing up the road surface" - Mr. Tran Huu Thang (55 years old, living on Road 70) said, people hope the city will soon have a solution to overcome this situation. Highway 70, Ha Dong - Van Dien section, has been overloaded for many years. According to the Hanoi People's Committee, the project to invest in the construction and expansion of Road 70, Ha Dong - Van Dien section, is more than 5km long, with a total estimated investment of VND 2,823 billion, and will be implemented in the period of 2022-2026. After completing the upgrading and renovation, the route is expected to become a foundation for socio-economic development as well as serving the travel needs of the people. Tam Trinh Road The Tam Trinh Road construction project was approved by the Hanoi People's Committee in 2012 with a length of about 3.5km, with a total cross-section of 40m. This is the main route in part of the overall traffic planning in Hoang Mai district, with the task of connecting Ring Road 2 with Ring Road 3 of Hanoi. Tam Trinh Street will be upgraded and expanded at a cost of more than VND3,350 billion. The project started in October 2016, expected to be completed after 3 years. However, up to now, the project is still stagnant due to land clearance problems of more than 200 households in Yen So and Mai Dong wards. Tam Trinh Street is often congested during rush hour. At the end of 2023, the Hanoi People's Committee approved the adjustment of the implementation time of the Tam Trinh Road Investment and Construction Project from 2016 to 2026, 7 years later than the previous plan. The total investment of the project is 3,354 billion VND, an increase of more than 1,287 billion VND. The expanded Tam Trinh Road will serve people's travel needs, reduce traffic pressure on the main roads of the southern gateway of the capital, and contribute to promoting local socio-economic development./.
