Hanoi University of Science and Technology has just announced to all students about the policy of encouraging students to take the bus. The school will use bus riding as a basis for evaluating students' training results.

From the 2024-2025 school year, students of Hanoi University of Science and Technology who take the bus will receive extra training points.

Not just to help students save money

Along with this policy, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has also provided students with information on the benefits of using public transport.

Accordingly, for each student, taking the bus brings benefits such as physical training (through walking to the bus stop and vice versa), helping to save costs effectively, and practicing punctuality.

For example, for those who do not have personal transportation, if they use services such as technology motorbike taxis, taxis, etc., the cost of using these services a few times is enough for students to take the bus for a whole month if they buy a monthly ticket (this ticket also allows unlimited use to the desired destinations).

Regarding practicing punctuality, the announcement from Hanoi University of Science and Technology explains: "Public transportation such as buses or trains will have a certain travel time frame. When using these means of transportation, we will know the travel time on our route. On average, there will be a bus every 20 - 30 minutes. Tracking the arrival time of the bus helps us practice the habit of being punctual to catch the bus we want, to reach the destination on schedule."

Students' contributions to the environment and society when taking the bus are shown through aspects such as contributing to environmental protection and reducing dust and smoke from motorbikes and personal cars.

In particular, students can help reduce urban traffic congestion by using buses because buses can transport many passengers at a time. Compared to other personal vehicles such as motorbikes and cars, people traveling by bus have a low area occupied (per capita). Developing public passenger transport by bus is one of the fundamental solutions in the field of urban management to control and limit personal vehicles, thereby reducing traffic congestion.

Students easily get 11 training points by taking the bus

According to Associate Professor Pham Thanh Huyen, Head of Student Affairs Department of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education and Training stipulates that assessing students' training results is a mandatory requirement in the student affairs regulations. Hanoi University of Science and Technology stipulates that training scores are assessed on a 100-point scale and classified into 6 levels: excellent (90 to 100 points), good (80 to below 90 points), fair (65 to below 80 points), average (50 to below 65 points), weak (35 to below 50 points), poor (below 35 points).

Each semester, the units of Hanoi University of Science and Technology organize an average of about 300 different activities. Therefore, each student has the opportunity to achieve at least 65 training points through participating in activities that are suitable for them.

By regularly using the bus, students can easily achieve 11 training points by meeting 3 criteria: participating in propagating the Party's policies, the State's laws and policies, regulations of the place of residence, regulations and rules of the school recognized by the locality and the school (4 points); participating in maintaining security and order, protecting the landscape and environment, civilized lifestyle in public places, promoting the beautiful image of the school recognized by the locality and the school (4 points); participating in popular activities, learning about national cultural identity, local culture, school culture... (3 points).

According to Associate Professor Pham Thanh Huyen, the school will create the most favorable conditions for students to complete the procedures to buy monthly bus tickets. Students only need to bring their ID photo to room P103, building C1 during office hours, there will always be staff there to issue a confirmation paper to make monthly bus tickets.
