YouTube is a video viewing application that is no longer strange to users. Many people have the habit of watching YouTube when going to bed and sometimes forget to turn it off, which will cause the phone to run out of battery the next morning. To overcome this problem, YouTube has introduced a timer feature that allows users to stop playing videos after a set period of time.
Timers can be used on both mobile and desktop. When the timer is active, the video playback will stop when the time limit is reached. This gives users peace of mind when they forget to close the app.
Currently, this feature is still in the testing phase and is only available to YouTube Premium users. Premium subscribers can experience the feature by activating it through a specific link provided by YouTube.
To enable the timer on mobile, users need to tap the settings button (gear icon) while the video is playing- select "Additional settings" - timer option.
For desktop, users simply press the gear button to open the playback options menu - select Sleep Timer.
Users can choose how long they want the video to play before stopping from 10 minutes to 60 minutes or until the video ends.
The feature will reportedly be available to YouTube Premium users until September 2.
