On the morning of April 12, the Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries of the province coordinated with the Buddhist Sangha of Bac Ninh province to organize a conference to propagate awareness of protecting aquatic resources and releasing fish fry to supplement and regenerate aquatic resources in 2025 at the Giao Duong Pagoda area, Tan Chi commune, Tien Du district.
Bac Ninh releases 40,000 additional fish fry of various types to regenerate aquatic resources in 2025
The province currently has 4,623.4 hectares of fish farming in earthen ponds and 2,731 fish cages on rivers. The output of exploited aquatic products reached 270 tons. Since the beginning of the year, the province has produced 42.7 million fish fry of all kinds, an increase of 6% over the same period. Every year, aquaculture brings high economic value and accounts for a large proportion of agricultural production. However, over the years, natural aquatic resources have seriously declined, at risk of depletion due to the impact of climate change, environmental pollution and overexploitation .
Regenerating aquatic resources is a meaningful activity carried out annually by the agricultural sector to supplement aquatic resources for the natural environment. In this regeneration release, 40,000 fish fry of various types were released into the natural environment on the Duong River such as: Red-eyed Catfish, Carp, Grass Carp, and Bighead Carp. These are native and traditional fish species. Releasing fish fry contributes to supplementing aquatic resources, developing the diversity of aquatic species in natural water bodies, and at the same time raising public awareness about the protection, regeneration and maintenance of aquatic resources.
To effectively regenerate and safely protect natural aquatic resources, in addition to people's awareness, it is also necessary for functional sectors and local authorities to participate in preventing and handling negative behaviors that harm the environment, especially cases of exhaustive exploitation of resources, in order to restore the living environment for aquatic species and ensure the sustainable development of aquatic resources.
