Promote import and export through border gates

Identifying border gate economy as an important element in the economy of border localities and the whole country, ministries, branches and localities have been making efforts to implement import and export solutions through this area.

During his working trip to Lao Cai on August 30, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien took the time to inspect the Kim Thanh - Lao Cai border gate. The Minister also requested the locality to focus on investing in logistics infrastructure, warehouses, and yards, especially in the Lao Cai Border Gate Economic Zone, to facilitate the development of goods circulation and effectively exploit the border gate economy, contributing to building Lao Cai into a center connecting trade between Vietnam and ASEAN countries with the Southwest region - China and further to Eastern Europe...

In Lang Son, the authorities will continue to synchronously deploy solutions to create efficiency and facilitate customs clearance such as regularly grasping information and disseminating to businesses about the situation of import and export of goods. At the same time, increase negotiations with the Chinese side, promptly resolve arising difficulties and problems. Implement regulation and flow of import and export vehicles during peak times; strengthen administrative reform in activities to resolve import and export procedures.

At the same time, continue to advise and orient development planning and infrastructure investment to suit each border gate area; advise on the construction and development of Lang Son border gate in the direction of determining the specificity of the border gates.

For Quang Ninh, according to the results of the Talks in mid-August 2024 between the authorities of Mong Cai City (Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam) and Dongxing City (Guangxi Province, China), the two localities agreed to increase customs clearance time, opening Bac Luan II border gate from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays, including holidays, Saturdays and Sundays (except Tet).

The pilot period is from the end of September 2024 to before Lunar New Year 2025. After that, the two sides will summarize, evaluate the effectiveness of customs clearance and agree on the plan to operate the border gate for the next period.

This is the result expected by import-export businesses and people on both sides. Opening the border gate for 2 more days a week creates many opportunities for the delivery of goods, especially aquatic products, seafood, and fresh fruits, avoiding the need to store vehicles after delivery of goods on weekends as before.
