An ambulance was running on the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong highway through Long An province when it suddenly caught fire, forcing the driver to open the door to escape.
The fire broke out this afternoon (March 9), at km24+700 of the Ho Chi Minh City-Trung Luong expressway, through Thanh Duc commune, Ben Luc district, Long An province.
Ambulance with license plate 63B-026.XX driven by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Rung (48 years old, from Tien Giang), traveling on the highway in the direction of Trung Luong to Ho Chi Minh City.
When reaching km24+700, the driver discovered fire breaking out in front of the car, accompanied by billowing smoke.
Immediately, Mr. Rung moved the car to stop in the emergency lane and then opened the door to escape.
The fire quickly spread and engulfed the entire ambulance. Many drivers on the road tried to help put out the fire but were unsuccessful.
The scene of the car fire caused local traffic congestion on the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway in the direction of Ho Chi Minh City.
Traffic Police Team 7, Room 6, Traffic Police Department, Ministry of Public Security arrived at the scene to regulate traffic and control the fire.
Major Nguyen Van Huong, Team 7 leader, said fortunately there were no casualties. There were no patients on the bus at the time of the fire.
The unit also coordinated to put out the fire, quickly tested the alcohol concentration of driver Rung and found no violations.
