On September 16, Mr. Nguyen Van Thi, Permanent Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, together with relevant agencies, surveyed and agreed on the location for planning the construction of a national crude oil reserve.
Accordingly, Thanh Hoa province selected an area of about 140 hectares in Industrial Park No. 6 within the administrative boundaries of Tinh Hai, Hai Yen communes and Mai Lam ward, Nghi Son town of Nghi Son Economic Zone to submit to the Ministry of Industry and Trade a plan to build a national crude oil reserve.
Determining the location for the construction of the national crude oil reserve in Thanh Hoa province aims to soon realize the national petroleum and gas reserve and supply infrastructure planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister on July 18, 2023.
Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi said that the national crude oil reserve built in Thanh Hoa province is the only crude oil reserve in the North and is very important, so Thanh Hoa province will focus highly on implementing the steps and procedures in implementing the project.
According to the planning approved by the Prime Minister, Thanh Hoa is one of three localities (along with Quang Ngai and Ba Ria - Vung Tau) selected to build a national crude oil reserve, with a scale of about 1 million tons.
In addition to determining the proposed location for the construction of a national crude oil reserve, Thanh Hoa province also determined the proposed location for the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) reserve in the western area of Me Island with an area of about 100 hectares (including land and water areas).
